I'm still not over Dan Devine!!!!!!!
No mention of the greatest QB ever? If they kept Taysom Hill all of this summers QB drama would have never happened.
I'm still not over the 70' and 80's

Damn right, and Iβm sick we DONβT have him. π€¬ π€¬ π€¬
When did they get rid of their best player ever?
He looks like he just crawled out of Eric Foreman's basement.
Cots are whuppin' the Ravens. Wow.
Would Jonathan Taylor look good in a Badger uniform, or what?
Oh.
Was that Jackson fumble and recovery by the Colts for a TD, a blown call by the refs? Looked like Leonard lateraled the ball to his teammate, who was behind him, from what I saw.
It sure looked that way to me. Ref was right there and even indicated as they lateralled that it was kosher.
@SteveLuke posted:So the #1 rated safety, by PFF, just got a pick 6 off All-World Mahomes (more like a drop by Tyreek) ... and in GB the defensive geniuses played that same saftey at slot CB and preferred to go with the likes of M.D. Jennings and Jerron McMillian at safety.
To be fair, Hyde was the best option they had for that spot, which was an utter crap show when a zone safety is your best option for slot corner in man.
Halloween, but for kickers
Hell of a comeback by the Ravens.
Prevent offense by the Colts with 6 minutes left cost them the game.
This has been a wild --and weird-- week of football.
Missed kicks galore, OT games, games with improbable outcomes...
Brady 5 TDs, Mahomes suddenly not getting any love. Murray playing lights out.
Cardinals are undefeated. Hell, the Loins almost beat the Bores!
Now, all the Gruden crap.
Since the week started at Seattle and those gawdawful nuclear-glow uniforms, I'm blaming them. Bastards.
I remember all the dumdums laughing at JJ for signing with Cardinals! Whoβs getting the last laugh right now?
I shook my head in disbelief at Watt's decision thinking it was more about $ than fit. Hey 5-0 I great start but Cards haven't won any titles yet...

He still has a few fans out there. I remember being at a bar in Green Bay maybe 15 years ago towards the end of the Favre era. Torkelson was there signing autographs. He looked a lot more like an insurance salesman than an ex-Packers RB.
@ammo posted:Please tell us why we need him. This season he has played 30 offensive plays, has 1 target with 0 receptions. Comparing his to ESB, St. Brown is better. At least he has 1 reception.
I just loved the idea of a Division 3 Wisconsin player on the Packers, AND, Aaron really liked having him as well. Itβs a mushy love kinda thing eh??
AR addressed this earlier ...you can't justify your opinion about letting go of a player by looking at his performance on other teams. AR explained that what may be valuable in our system (high football IQ, timing, reading of the defense, etc.) may not be the same everywhere else. Through camp & preseason of the year he was released, Kumerow looked like our third best receiver....him not playing in Buffalo doesn't change that.

The real question is did he look like a Monkey? (Peter Tork was his brother)
Wait. Is that factoid true? How did I not know that fun fact all these years???
Just spent some time checking it out. Apparently Howard Cosselle said so during a MNF game (Iβm guessing thatβs where I heard it) but it appears he was wrong and thus by association so am I. The shame
Wait.
Cosell did talk about monkeys on MNF, but thatβs not what youβre referring to. Are you hittinβ the bottle this early?

Why do head coaches consistently go into a shell and opt to optimize their chances of kicking 40-yard FGs instead of actually trying to score a TD to ice the game? MLF has the least excuse of any of them given he has Rodgers.
I'm trying to picture the thought process.
We are tied (or up 5 or less points) late in the 4th quarter. There are two options.
1. I could give my Hall of Fame QB who is the best in history at avoiding interceptions three shots to add 6 points throwing to the best WR in football. The likely worst-case scenario is that we have some incompletions and we still kick a FG on 4th down to go up 3 or by more than a FG (but less than a TD). If we score a TD, we can either go up by 7 if we are tied or by two scores if we are up between 2 and 5 points.
2. Granted, we have a historically good clutch kicker (until Sunday). But rather than give Aaron Rodgers and D. Adams (or sure handed guys like Cobb or Lazard) a chance to better ice the game and likely still be able to kick the FG if nothing was there and Rodgers throws the ball away, I'd rather put this in the hands of my 7th round long-snapper and my punter who has been with the team for a month. Oh, and my crack special teams units are always a better bet to go up by fewer points than one of the top 5 QBs in NFL history being in a position to put us up by more points.
It's not like MLF would have to tell Rodgers to avoid interceptions in this situation but if something is there to take it. Rodgers one biggest weakness (on the field at least) has been his propensity to be overly conservative at times and not take chances with the ball.

You were pretty close.
"Eric Torkelson was drafted the following spring by the Green Bay Packers in the 11th round. And he stuck with the Packers thru 1981 as a fullback. In 93 games, he started 26...had 351 carries for 1,307y and 8 career TDS. He also caught 59 passes in his days with the Packers finally retiring in 1981. Following football, Tork became a sales rep in the Medical Field, retiring from Stryker Corp. Just last July, Torkelson was nominated to join the Packer's Board of Directors."
He didn't have an outstanding career but he certainly was a fan favorite for his hard work.
EXACTLY Michigan Packer

I've been thinking about the end of that game a lot.
My guess? If MLF calls three straight passes from the 6, they don't convert, and Mason misses FG, the pitchforks would have been out "WHY DON'T YOU RUN THE BALL? YOU HAVE QUADZILLA!" In fact, I'll correct myself, that's not a guess. That is absolutely would have happened. RTFB!! DILLON! This isn't directed at "You", I just know that in general, had they thrown 3 times and failed, that would have been the response.
But, the thought process is NFL coaches have 2 thoughts in their brains at all times. 1) Don't lose the game. 2) Don't make decisions that are easily questioned
Play action has been a great tool for Rodgers this year.
I would have liked to see run, PA, Pass but that is just preference. In that scenario, with this offense, any option is a valid option. MLF would have been justified to try and ground it out with Dillion or Jones. He would have been justified to try and go for the throat with Rodgers. I prefer the mixed route, which he kind of did.

Found this - on the Internet, of course.
Howard Cosell screwed up on a MNF telecast many years ago and claimed that the Packers' Eric Torkelson was the brother of Peter Tork.
By odd coincidence Eric went to UConn, and Peter's family lived in Connecticut, and Peter's dad taught at UConn.

Short memory? In the NFC Championship game Rodgers had 1st and goal twice and couldn't get a TD. What makes you think it would have been different last Sunday?
WTF kind of logic is that?
It should be basic logic to avoid at all cost putting your weakest unit(s) back on the field and constantly expecting them to salvage the victory in the 4th qtr. The same pathetic unit that has handed the strongest link some golden opportunities in the past 3 weeks to put the game away. If a turnover puts your offense back on the field on the opponents side, your mvp should be expected to deliver on a two score, insurmountable lead late in the game. Any drive inside of 30 yards to paydirt should be an indictment of HC/QB/Offense if a TD isn't the result. Wasn't there a Campbell int that resulted in a 15 or so yard field? But damn you defense for never getting it done!
