Badgers defeated Holy Cross 85 - 61 in their season opener.  I know most don't expect much from this team but there were a few interesting stats from the game. badgers shot 49.2% on F G and were 11 of 31 on 3's for 36%.  They were also 16 -16 on Free throws.  John Tonje, transfer from Missouri lead in scoring with 23, Blackwell had 16 and Winter with 15.  Klesmit, Crowl and McGee each had 7.

Sweet win. Gives me hope how they will do in the Big 10. From the JSO:

"Led by a record-setting night by John Tonje, Wisconsin made a statement Friday.

The Badgers men's basketball team knocked off ninth-ranked Arizona, 103-88, in front of a packed house at the Kohl Center and Tonje, the team’s graduate guard, set a program record for free throws made and nearly set a single-game scoring record with a 41-point performance."

I’m trying to recall another comparable situation like what we are seeing with Tonje.   I mean, it’s not like he’s coming out of nowhere but it feels very Frank Kaminsky senior year like in terms of how he’s performing.

What’s most impressive is dude is shooting like 50% from 3.   Not sure if he can sustain that clip given he’s a career 37% from 3 guy, but if he’s close to 40% he gives the Badgers a really nice offensive threat.
