The Badgers stand behind only Ohio State and Florida as the best football/basketball colleges in the nation. CBS has some good things to say about Bucky.

And the shame of it is no national title. The hoops program was right there 2 years ago but fell short. Hard to believe a team with Russ Wilson and Montee Ball and JJ Watt couldn't even place in the national championship game but that was on Bert Bielema and his stupidity.
I want to know more about this footbasketball game
BADGERS = national powerhouse
only 7 weeks to go till Bucky shocks the college football world with a spanking of another sec titan

I don't believe Watt was on that team.
Correct- Watt was drafted the year previous. They had some solid young defenders on the Wilson team, but they were young. That was the year Ball was a Heisman finalist, and Gordon was 3rd on the depth chart.
I still get riled up by the basketball team's loss to Duke. No doubt things other than officiating had more to do with the loss - Duke's back court in the final 8 or so minutes and the fact that Dekker could not hit the broad side of a barn (was his shooting ever atrocious and he was so hot the game before against Kentucky).
But, the officiating. Some day I might break open a video of the game and analyze the calling up to about 8m left and thereafter for discrepancies where suddenly charges became defensive fouls, that sort of thing.
Man, why gift a team with what 4 championships already when the other team might get one in 50 years.
Bo Ryan got a lot of beef after the game for alluding to that sudden shift in the post game. ESPN of course has a lot invested in the Duke world and the ACC in general, so they were the first to start skewering Ryan. But there's no denying it- all season long that aggressive play was called an offensive foul. That one ridiculous play where Gasser is step for step with that one Duke G and he literally jumps sideways to draw contact with Gasser with his hands straight in the air... For them to call that foul against Gasser told you everything you needed to know.
It will always be an opportunity lost to me- but with the incoming classes they are bringing in they have kept the pipeline full. They could even get back this year- there is a LOT of talent. Even after you talk about another year of development from Happ, a motivated Hayes, Koenig's swan song, Van Vliet and Pritzl's shooting... You have a talent like Iverson who only flashed last year, and could become this team's next great star. If Iverson was a Dukie, he'd be on a daily ESPN report about his eating and crapping habits, and what color underwear he chose today.
I think this year is going to be fun. Maui, the ACC/B1G... it's going to be a helluva ride.
Hey MC,
I had a contract assignment and lived in the Twin Cities for 6 months. During that time was Ryan's announcement that he was retiring.
Anyway, the main Twin Cities espn radio host brought up the championship game and said the refs screwed Wisconsin. And by the way, the overall sentiment of that radio show was one of having no love for Wisconsin sports.
Talk about an unbiased reference.
If you're not a Eastern Seaboard Programming Network lackey, you know that game completely shifted to give Duke the upper hand in the final 10 minutes. It was like pulling the rug out from under them- suddenly everything they did to get there was a foul against them.
Same thing happened against Notre Dame in that unraveling in the E8 game this year. Suddenly the Badgers couldn't get a call when the game was called a different way for 35 minutes. ND and the Chicago media market needed a chance- so they swallowed their whistles and let ND bang their way back into the game.
