that was surprisingly awesome!!! I figured we would be a tough out for nova but to beat them in the end after all those fouls and missed free throws, exciting and well deserved victory.
Fun game.
edit:
Anyone remember the last time Wisconsin beat a 1 seed as an 8 seed?
I sure do!
Poor, poor Minnesota.

Glad I paid no attention to this nonsense
Hey, I was talking that **** before the tourney started.
Considering they could not play defense in the second half, that was pretty incredible. Seniors really stepped up today.
I do hope we get a different officiating crew in NY.
The fouls ensured that Koenig had fresh legs at the end. When they kept it close with him out, they had an advantage
Next game is Friday. That is big for Bucky to get some fresh legs. They played the last game of the regular season, late game on opening night of the tournament and the early game in the second round. Catch your breath Bucky!

And it was Wildcats then too. But we can't get a B1G team to go to the Final Four this time.
Badgers can play with Virginia, not sure about Florida as I haven't seen them near as much as UVA
You could see the confidence when they had all 5 starters back on the court with 3 minutes to go. Cool as cucumbers. Outstanding.
The refs got it right when it mattered most. If they would have whistled Vitto at the end there, I think I would have lost my mind.
Nigel with the game ball and some well-deserved accolades after the game. He carried the second half.
WHEEEEEE!! Bye Nova
Shooting free throws when no one has possession of the ball is bull****. That being said they just kept on digging no matter how bad they were getting hosed on calls. Great Win! Move on to the next opponent.
Lots of good stuff to be found here.
We have a 'for fun' bracket competition at work. A young guy from Wisconsin picked the Badgers to win it all. I hope it goes that way.
I had to listen to the 2nd Half on the radio today. The announcers were constantly belittling the referees as favoring Villanova. Many suspect calls were questioned so I'm glad we won so complaining about the refs doesn't look like sour grapes.
Excited for Bucky and if they can keep up the intensity on defense; keep calm and collected in crunch time; make some more free throws....they do have a shot at going to Phoenix.
Go Badgers!!

As the nova guy drove for the layup with just seconds left and our D did an amazing job tying him up....
was it me or did he take 4 steps without a dribble while he had the ball tucked into his elbow!??! Looked like a travel to me, but since it was just no call and we won, I don't care.
FORWARD BUCKY! F'EM!
I thought it was a travel too.
Here is the game in 10 minutes
Hard not to like Nova as a program. Even if I don't dislike them like Duke or NC, that was still an amazing victory for the program. Might as well go to the Final 4 now.
The refs are not going to make bad calls against the "darling" teams. Just look at the pathetic non-call in the NC-Ark game. That was definitely a travel OR a charge. But, it was "dad-gum's" team so the refs swallowed their whistle.
Yesterday they played a feature on this game in one of the pregame shows where they showed inside the locker room at half time of the game and they were so mellow, so cool. The team was doing all of the talking. They seem like they are able to compartmentalize the situation and enjoying it (later).
Combination of coaching and seniors?
Nigel is scheduled to be on Mike and Mike at 730 this morning for those interested

When do the Badgers become a darling team?
18 NCAA tournaments in a row
9 Sweet 16s in the last 17 years
31 tournament wins in the last 17 years
3 Final Fours
10 guys who have played at least one game in the NBA from those 18 tournament teams.
3 NBA lottery picks
The refs fouled out two key Dukies at the end of the game last night. Shocking but true.
The fix was in.

I was shocked, too. Big League Shocked!
No one saw that coming. I think Coach K was on the phone to the NCAA complaining that the refs actually had the gall to make the correct calls.
