Agree on Stone.  With all the talk about concussions in sports (not just the NFL now) you would think the refs would put a premium on flagrant fouls to the head.  Yeah, sure, he didn't punch the head....but still, unnecessary and could've given Brown a headache for a while.  I can't wait to see what the B1G Commish has to say about that.

This wasn't just a win, but a complete pommeling of a #2 seed.  Everyone stepped up (except what's his face that missed that bunny under the hoop shot).  This team is fun to watch.  You never know who's going to make the big play.  But it seems the last 12 games someone always has...Go Bucky!

Vito Brown is becoming a weapon. Finally the player he was supposed to be.

It was surprising that these guys overcame foul trouble to a pair of key players (Happ and Showy), but Maryland was missing open looks from 3 and lay ups. Good D inside, but the open looks from 3 were strange. Trimble was what... 2 for 13 or something?

Meanwhile the Badgers continue to hit 3s at a crazy pace.

I don't know if there is a single understandable rationale for why Diamond Stone was allowed to continue to play in that game. He tackled VB to the ground more or less, then shoves the head against the Florida or for good measure. Textbook definition of Flagrant 2. Also a punkassed way of playing the game.

But I have to compliment VB for his response when asked about it- he said (paraphrasing) that it was a good thing, and it stood to galvanize the team going into halftime. May have served to help them keep that lead the remainder of the game.

We knew going in that the team would be better as the season went on. I am pleased to know this is happening right before our eyes. Keep winning baby!

What pisses me off is that the whole foul thing was not even mentioned in the ESPN or SI story of the game.  If that had been some Dookie or Kentucky player that had his head pushed into the floor they would have been all over that.   Hope the BigTen commish does the right thing and suspends Stone for a game but with Maryland's next game at Goophers will it even matter?

Well there is this from ESPN's Myron Medcalf, whoever he is

Worst call in a weekend filled with bad calls -- Diamond Stone smashes another player’s head, stays in the game

Listen, player safety is significant. And NCAA rules state that a flagrant 2 foul “is a personal foul that involves contact with an opponent that is not only excessive, but also severe or extreme while the ball is live.” Late in the first half of Wisconsin’s win at Maryland, Stone smashed Vitto Brown’s head into the hardwood while he lay on the ground after a scramble for a loose ball. Stone drew a contact technical for his actions and Charlie Thomas, Brown’s teammate, also picked up a technical after he exchanged words with Stone.

But the bottom line is that Stone should have been ejected. What he did was excessive and dangerous. And if the folks in the Big Ten’s offices truly value player safety, they should take a hard look at Stone’s actions and consider further punishment. There is no room for that in college basketball.
