Bakhtari - What a debut !

I have a gut feeling that this guy is gonna be a keeper. Wishful thinking? Perhaps. He just seems like a kid that gets it, regardless.

I have the same feeling.  How I hope and I pray...

I guess we'll quickly find out how well he's learned his lessons so far, and how far he has yet to go... This is the Big Time, and against darn good D linemen.

I think our expectations have to be tempered in the short term, for sure. He's getting his first NFL start against what is arguably the best front seven in the league. He'll probably have some bad plays. 

The SF line presents problems for experienced players and no reason to believe Backteria won't have growing pains. He doesn't have to pitch a shutout, just hold his own and I expect him to do that.

I think Bakhtiari will have a good game Sunday. He looks to be talented and likes to compete.

Chad Clifton 2.0

McCarthy will give him help like he did Barclay last year. People seem to forget that this line only allowed 1 sack to that vaunted front in the playoff game, and that was to Pat Willis. And that was with Newhouse at LT and Barclay at RT with EDS at Center. I find it hard to believe that Bahktiari is worse than Newhouse last year and Barclay is worse than he was last year. 

The threat of a running game (w/Harris) late last year slowed some of the pass rush.

Good point.

Bak could allow more saks than Newman sunday but it wouldn't necessarily mean he is a worse OLman.  He's a fresh off the boat rookie and you almost have to expect him to have a few losses vs. top NFL talent in his first game.  Just so long as his losses don't turn into team losses, we'll be alright.

OK, I'll finally say it, Bak's stance reminds me of Ken Ruttgers'.

I have a feeling Bulaga will will have a tough time getting his job back.  Well, the job he had for a short time and Bulaga will play another OL position next year.

That will be an interesting one to see shake out. If Barclay makes strides at RT then Bulaga will have an even tougher time seeing the field. 

Lets not get ahead of ourselves. If Bulaga was healthy enough to play he'd be starting at tackle, most likely left tackle. If he comes back without setbacks that's not likely to change.

Bulaga was an unproven commodity at LT. If Bak does a good job there he'll stay and Don will move to the bench.

They want their two best tackles on the field, Bulaga is one of them if healthy, whether Barclay or Bakhtiari is the other remains to be seen.

I wasn't getting ahead of myself, I said it will be an interesting one to watch. I said IF Bak makes strides and IF Barclay makes strides, I never said either were better than Bulaga right now. 

By next year the white whale will not have played a game for about a year and a half, no one knows what kinda layoff like that will do to him. There's also Sherrod to consider if he ever makes it off of PUP to the mix of Tackles. Gotta play this year out and if bacteria strain does well it will be interesting come next year with solid growth on his part.

The Packers by next years draft have the potental to have a crummy O-Line with no debth to roster 9 deep with outstanding linemen. The season will tell.
