Say a prayer for Bart, it sounds like he'll be OK.

Hall of Fame quarterback Bart Starr collapsed Tuesday at the end of a speech he was giving to attendees at a Wisconsin Housing and Economic Development Authority conference, but he appears to be fine, according to a spokesman for the organization.

"He's doing well," said agency spokesman Kevin Fischer. "He's speaking coherently."

Fischer said Starr, 78, was the keynote speaker for the agency's Multifamily Housing and Economic Development Conference, meeting at the Monona Terrace Community and Convention Center. Fischer said Starr spoke for 45 minutes Tuesday morning, but near the end of his speech, he paused for about 15 or 20 seconds and collapsed on stage.

Fischer said Starr then sat up and said he was fine.

Starr later left the convention center with his wife, Cherry, entered a limousine and was taken to the Dane County Regional Airport, Fischer said.

Fischer said he did not think Starr received any medical attention.

Starr is one of the best known members of the Green Bay Packers from the glory years of the 1960s. As the quarterback for the Packers, Starr led the team to six divisional crowns, five National Football League Championships and two Super Bowls.

For many years, Starr has been a much-in-demand motivational speaker both in Wisconsin and around the country.
