Joe Thomas would cost them a #1, and more... After what they gave up for Bradford (2017-r1, 2018- r4, r3, or r2), and then they go get Long (their current LT), this would be beyond stupid. Long has played almost exclusively at LT in his NFL career. Not saying he couldn't move inside (he played some RG with STL), or even to RT, just don't see MIN mortgaging so much future for right now. They need to rebuild the entire OL so picks is what they need.

I don't see Bradford as their long term answer at QB either.

Fox would rather move on from Cutler. Cutler will probably get the Bears to 6 or 7 wins and the front office will keep him another year.

MIN losing was the best part of the game, but this is a close 2nd IMO. You know Jay has lots of picks to give after sitting for 5 weeks. He nearly tossed 2 last night.

Joe Thomas would help them immensely. Enough so that Bradford could at least only get pancaked from the left DE. I could see them panicking and doing it though.

One player is not going to be the cure all for the vikings O Line woes. They suck all the way down the line. Chicago was getting sacks from all over the line. What are they going to do if Bradford goes down to injury? Not only are they bad at protecting their QB, they cannot block for their RBs. 57 yards rushing last night. One of the hosts of the post game show said that Minnesota has no capital to trade to another team for anybody. It will be an interesting next few days in viking land.

Good post. They are basically all in this year as it is. Bradford is a guy that's good enough to win with if you protect him. He's a terrible match for this OL. They need a guy like Russell Wilson where they can roll the pocket out to give him some extra time.

One of our local writers wrote up a piece on the Queens GM essentially saying they are copying the blueprint of Ted Thompson in GB stating the reason the Vikings have become a solid team is because they are no longer going hog wild in FA or make panic trades. The last 3-4 seasons, they have become largely draft n development with the theory being we're in a copycat league and if you can't beat the Packers, then join them in emulating what they do.

This was written IIRC before the trade for Bradford though I can understand with Bridgewater's injury being career threatening why they made the trade.

Still, IF the Queens are indeed copying teams like GB, Seattle, OAK etc then making a trade for a T just makes little sense because IMO one player isn't going to fix that whole OL. Will it help? yes. But no, it's not going to fix it at least not enough to mortgage their future to maybe make it to the divisional round of the playoffs.

The Vikings have issues along most of the OL. It's not just one positon needing fixing and suddenly everything is roses.

Seattle has a guy like Russell Wilson that can roll the pocket. But he plays behind a terrible line as well. He's also getting the crap beat out of him and their offense has been almost as unproductive as Minny's has.

It was the gift that gave us one of the greatest most quotable moments in Packers history, "We want the ball and we're gonna score!" It also gave us 4th and 26 so I guess that first it giveth then it taketh away.....

December 24th, 1995. Ray Nitschke noted that Lambeau Field had the most electric crowd and feeling to it since the Lombardi days. A light snow falling , a close hard fought game against what was to be the best AFC team. Favre coughing up blood after getting drilled by Kevin Greene then two plays later comes back in and throws a TD pass to Chmura.  The Steelers driving down the field down by 5 points then with less than 16 seconds left in the game their leading receiver drops an easy TD pass wide open in the corner of the end zone. First division championship since 1972. Thanks Cheeze for getting those tickets !

The Eagles and Bears both tore the Viking Offense apart.

Wasn't able to watch much of the game last night. Curious what the differences were compared to when the Packers played the Vikes - Bradford had a career night !!  So what did the Bears do to get pressure that our defense couldn't ? Did they pressure with 4 ? Did they blitz a lot ? Was their coverage that much tighter ? Is their defense that much better ?

Because Wilson is getting creamed behind that ****show of an O-line.

As for the Queens, It depends on expectations. Kalil is in the final year of his contract and without a first rounder they won't be in a spot to grab a top LT prospect. Their options are:

1. Re-sign Kalil, hopefully at a reasonable rate following injury.

2. Sign another LT on the open market, of which there's rarely one worth a warm bucket of spit.

3. Hope one you like falls to where you can draft him in the second or third.

4. Trade for one.

If they want to move on from Kalil, don't see a prospect they like and think Thomas has five good years left they could feasibly do a deal.

While it doesn't help them this year, their best bet is probably sticking with Kalil and just trying to get through this season.

Little blitzing. Rushing four.

They pressured with only 4 & were winning 2 or 3 of the 4 match-ups at times (their 2 tackles are new since we played them). Bradford had a number of passes tipped by d-lineman. Minny could not run the ball which got them in passing downs, which was not good for their o-line, which is a mess! On defense Minny was missing one of their safeties, which appeared to really hurt them. The thing that surprised me was that Bears were able to run on them without their two starting guards.

Bradford played well, but it's not like he went Drew Brees or Tom Brady (or Matt Ryan) on them. The Vikings scored 17 points. The Packers offense (in particular Rodgers) played poorly against a good defense)

The Vikings had a 54 yard TD drive (on which they fumbled but recovered), a long FG Drive (44 yard pass to Diggs), and a long TD drive on which 2 plays for 71 yards when to Diggs.

Their offense was one short TD drive (which required a 4th down conversion) and two other scoring drives where Diggs lit up Randall who was either just awful or (more likely) playing hurt.

Bradford's QB rating throwing to Diggs was 149.0 (9 for 11, 182 yards and a TD)

Bradford's QB rating throwing to everyone else was 94.5 (13 for 20, 104 yards and a TD). It's still good, but not the reason they lost.

The Packers lost that game because Randall got toasted by Diggs and Dom didn't adjust. Even with that, if Rodgers doesn't botch the game-ending drive with a bad interception they are probably in OT.

It was the second game of the season.  Since MM doesn't play the first string together much, they were still in "figuring it out" mode.  It is my belief that doing that costs the Packers when the season starts.  So we have another slow start - and everyone wonders why.  True they get practice time together - but virtually no game time.  And that is probably more important than practice time.  It also doesn't help continuity when the players can't stay healthy.

Why do I hear John Facenda? I was like Nostradomis deciding right around Halloween that those were the tickets to get. I got three tickets for minimally over face value from an add out of Packers Plus. The seats were top row of the corner that Yancy dropped the ball in. It was an amazing day. Exactly the kind of day you would want in Green Bay. I think that we carried in about a 6 pack of Oof-Da bock in the bottom of the sleeping bag we had with us! Never again.

Great final score!!! Cutler was surprisingly OK.

That's why he's been in the league as long as he has. He'll show flashes of being a competent QB for a game or two, and then he'll follow it up with a flurry of bad decisions followed by a case of grumpy bottoms.

He's the gift that keeps on giving!

I had 2 on the 45, 3 rows up from the Steelers bench. Best sporting seats of my life.  Got them for nothing from the friend of a friend who had season tickets but lives in Ca and neither could go (Christmas eve and all). Went with my brother who is a pretty good trash talker (nothing foul, just observant and cutting). He had Slash Stewart smiling a couple of times.

About the play, the thing I remember most is how LOUD the stadium was through the snap. And then it went quiet when everyone saw O'Donnell toss that cupcake pass to Thigpen all alone . He caught it with his hands about waist high but I guess it had a little more mustard on it than he expected because it looked like he just turned and threw it out of the endzone.  One instant of silent disbelief and then "IT'S CHRISTMAS!"

Cheeze calls me up and says" I can get tickets to the game against the Steelers for 60 bucks do you want to go !!! " Hell yeah ! Then 15 minutes later he calls back and says "We're going !!!" I was about to finally go to my first Packers game. Looking at my ticket stub. We were in section 8 row 60 which was the top row of the stadiums outer bowl at that time. I don't really recall even sitting down that entire game exept for halftime. We were standing drinking New Glarus Uff-Da beers we stashed in the pockets of our coats. Section 8 was in the same corner of the north end zone of the dropped pass so you could look down and see the play set up. Thigpen went wide open to the left and I saw O'Donnell look left and then pivot to the left, arm goes back to pass and I said damn it's over. Ball goes flying out of Thigpen's hands and the 60,000 people at Lambeau instantly go crazy. GRIGNON you described the crowds reaction perfectly. It was so loud before the snap and during the play, then a gasp of quiet, then an eruption of celebration.11-5, division champs for the first time in 23 years, a playoff game next week at Lambeau. Merry Christmas Packers Nation! Just an amazing moment and an exciting time to be a Packers fan.

And Viking fans feel that the stiff Bridgewater would be an upgrade over Bradford, this organization is going to be bad for years to come.

It shouldn't have even come down to THAT play.  O'Donnell's run on 4th down a few plays earlier should NOT have been a 1st down...the ref's gave him a very favorable spot.  I think if you could challenge a spot back then, Holmy would have....

The vikings are going to have to keep using Long. The trade deadline came and went and they did not pick up anybody. A Twin Cities reporter said the vikings are going to have to teach their O Line how to block. Here's hoping Detroit can add to the vikings woes this week and that the Packers can beat Indy handily without sustaining any more injuries.
