Do you think the Broncos are concerned that 37-year-old Peyton Manning isn't the QB of the future? McCown is no Manning, but Rich Gannon was 34 when he went to the Raiders. With the Raiders, Gannon went to four straight Pro Bowls, won the MVP, and took the Raiders to a Super Bowl.  Absent the "Tuck Rule" game, Gannon might have made it two Super Bowls for the Raiders.

What matters is that McCown is operating at a high level right now, and he is a much cheaper option than Cutler.  If the Bears were smart (and I hope they're not), they'd keep McCown for the next couple of years while drafting and developing his replacement.

Make no mistake, If Jay Cutler believes its in Jay Cutler's best interest for a new contract from the Bears or anyone else to sit, then Jay Cutler will sit. The Bears won't be able to tell him squat. Jay Cutler is the epitome of todays player, he is going to make sure Jay Cutler is not under undue risk for a new money.

If this is his thinking, then it sucks, but I can't blame him.  NFL is a tough business, he and the Bears have created a situation to where he has no future paychecks.  As quickly as teams cut players and players suffer career ending injuries, you have to look out for #1.

Now, if he was under contract for the next year, that is a different scenario, but knowing that your going to be a FA, in 2-3 games, I would be very cautious in playing to preserve my future earnings.  I think many players and people in that situation would do the same.

With the $$$ that gets thrown around at the QB position, it's today's NFL and today's players.

Ain't gonna happen.  Bryant and Witten will make us look like chumps.  Same thing will happen vs. the Bores and Marshall and Jeffries.  Especially for the Bores, that game will be their opportunity to (like Detroit on Turkey Day) get some payback.  If they can embarrass us, you'd better believe that they will - and their drunken a55hole crowd will roar the entire time.

We have Rodgers for the last 3 and we have more than a punchers chance of sweeping those 3, including the Bears. Part of having a better defense is having an offense that uses some time on the clock, puts points on the board at the end of those drives and plays with a lead especially late into a game. AR has masked the deficiencies before and he can help do it again IMO.

If he doesn't play, steep uphill battle to sweep ....
