When did they start bringing Burnett down to LB on a consistent basis in nickel?  I won't claim to clearly remember but that sure seemed like last year at best.  And as far as being serious about it, Richardson was a UDFA.  I would call that more of a flyer than planning to consistently execute a Nitro package.

You need the pieces to commit to anything.  I don't think it matters that Richardson was UD, they identified him with a roll.  Nobody in the league was really "committed" to it until ARZ and a couple other teams just last year.  There was some experimenting in 2015 but nothing consistent.  Dom was on it in 2013.  I wouldn't use Burnett's activity as an indicator either because until HHCD solidified the other safety spot, we couldn't afford not having Burnett playing the only S spot back there.  Dom gets a lot of heat for gauntlet of reasons but he would not be a copycat in this instance.

Having read all the takes on the conversion to the Nitro-  I am getting more and more excited about this package- my only concern is  getting trucked by the running game.  GB finished #9 in rush defense and should they maintain this and get the defensive passing stats respectable ( 15 or better) this could be a scary defensive team!

Like most fans I am anxious to see Josh Jones get a few snaps (so long as it doesn't mean Morgan Burnett is hurt).  Looking at Jones I suspect he can put 10 "good pounds" pounds on next year and still maintain his speed and play ILB full time.  He would be 1 inch taller than Bobby Wagner and faster as well!

I am also anxious to see Brice on the field while he lasts, he is soo violent I don't know how long he can last but he is definitely a " starch your shorts hitter"!

Anyway anxious to see the D on the field and hope the O scores 32 a game (512) and the can hold at 16 a game (256).

I didn't feel like pulling up the Dom sucks thread so here.

Packers all in with Nitro

This isn’t just the future of NFL defense, it’s the now. Inside linebackers are going the way of the fullback, and unless you have the rare one who runs in the 4.4s, like the Seahawks’ Bobby Wagner or the Jets’ Darron Lee, you just can’t play two of them together much anymore.

“If you’re not clocking a 4.4-something, we have a mismatch,” said Packers defensive lineman Ricky Jean Francois, “and those guys like (Tom) Brady and (Aaron) Rodgers are going to find it.”

In fact, you can’t help but wonder why the Packers didn’t go this way a year or two ago

They actually were working on it 3-4 years ago with Sean Richardson in the S/ILB role.  Neck injury derailed it.

So either Dom was on top of the defensive sea change and TT told him to **** right off or Dom went right on Wizarding thinking Richardson may be a interesting option.  I'm going with the later.  TT may be frugal in FA but he definitely listens to MM about what they need from the draft.  Maybe MM is the dope?

They had also drafted Jarron McMillian who washed out with injuries also.

Jerron McMillian.  At all of 203 pounds with a 4.51 forty.  Bad argument.  Capers played his standard press coverage up until they got torched by Kaepernick.  Then it was all about stopping the QB and pseudo spread offenses.  McMillian was a **** pick no doubt but I don't see how he would even figure into the Nitro considering you have guys like Mini Hawk running a 4.6 forty.
