Why would they want another coach that has his team gets blown out by Wisconsin?
The whole reason for him leaving Bucky was to coach in the SEC...
Michigan still open......Miles? Harbaugh? Should be very interesting. My guess is it is someone off the radar.
Weird is right. Does not look like a fire Pelini to hire Riley kind of move. I'm guessing the Bielema desire was real on the NEB part and when he said no they flinched.
I know a couple of Nebraska folks. The biggest problem there is that they still think they're an elite program nationally or at least they should be, and they are not. There was also the fact that the fans despised Pelini because he was an a-hole. He embarrassed himself and his coaches and players on the sidelines and he was a cuss with the media and the fans. Reilly is the exact opposite of that - the nicest guy you'll ever meat. Still, I'd be pretty underwhelmed with this hire if I cared about that program. Purely on the field, this doesn't seem like an upgrade.
Reilly has a pretty good college resume. Pretty good hire, IMO. BB and GA were anything but sexy when hired as well...
I'm pretty sure Riley can continue the tradition of losing 4 games every year.
That's very likely what he'll do too. His best season(s) w/OreSt is with 4 losses.
He sucked in San Diego when he was with the Chargers
He's a total milque-toast personality, not unlike Trestman
Doesn't fit NEB or the Big Ten imo
The other thing I thought was weird about Riley to Nebraska, isn't Riley from Corvallis? I feel like I always remember them talking about that whenever I watched an OSU game...he's from there, coached there, will never leave, blah blah blah. Maybe his act was wearing thin there getting constantly owned by Oregon and not really ever competing for a Pac-12 championship? Maybe he will have more success not competing against Oregon for recruits although Nebraska isn't exactly a hotbed of talent.
People in Knoxville are really freaked out about Michigan targeting Butch Jones. There have been rumors about how if Michigan can't get Jim Harbaugh or Les Miles then Butch is their top target. It would be a tough loss for UT and a big gain for Michigan, he's a dynamite recruiter and despite his record here, he's really done an amazing job. Derrick Dooley left Tennessee in a lurch, Butch has done more than expected considering the talent level he was given.

True, but those were REALLY bad teams. His quarterbacks in SD were Ryan Leaf and Craig "Buschemi" Whelihan among other immortals.
