Hopefully itβll motivate them for the tournament that really matters
Badgers played well. Illinois is pretty good. 3 big time college players, depth, good coaching, the real deal. Badgers may make to the second weekend which was not foreseeable a couple of weeks ago.
Maybe more, who knows. Stay tuned.
Winnable game, but outgunned again by one of the best teams in the nation, no shame in that. Very nice tourney and should be a 5 seed with a chance to win a game or two in the NCAA.
Badgers played above their heads for the BT tourney. Enough to keep Gardβs job but get bounced by round 2.
I wish Gard had played Crowl and Winter together down the stretch to try and control Illinois on the boards. Plus Winter is a real 3 pt threat too. Other than that I thought he did a good job. And I still think McGee being out with the injury had a lot to do with lackluster play in February.
And just announced the dreaded 5-12 matchup. James Madison, 31-3 for the season.
It only took 30 seconds for Seth Davis to call for Wisconsin to be upset
Yeppers. He even went as far to imply they would beat Duke too. Clark Kellogg picked James Madison too. Lots of bulletin board material.
Or, maybe JMU is good?
That Seth guy on CBS picked James Madison to go to the Sweet 16. No one is picking Wisconsin, it seems.
fuck seth davis. badgers ainβt losing to jmu
who has jmu beat? anyone in the big 10?
very early number at draft kings
James Madison vs Wisconsin 11am Friday
Spread: Wisconsin-5.5
They beat Michigan State the first game of the year. They did not play any other noticeable teams. The lost twice to Appalachian State.
badgers will win
And then beat Duke, again.
Any team that wins 30 games, no matter what conference they play in, is good. This will be a game.
Clearly the Badgers are the more battle tested team at this point. But in a one and done situation I do not like this draw.
JMU does a lot of things well that the Badgers have had some difficulty with. They generate a lot of pressure leading to steals. They play good perimeter defense. They shoot and make a lot of 3s. And they arenβt built like a typical mid major team. The have decent size and athleticism especially on wing.
UW has the advantage in terms of frontcourt size and JMU isnβt used to playing a team like the Badgers that can get really physical and pound the glass.
If the Badgers can hit a fair amount of their 3s I like their chances.
Iβve never seen them play, most here if not all have seen them once or so. I have read up a bit on JMU and agree with Tschmak as to their attributes. They have done well against their peers, no doubt, but a Big 10 team playing well is another thing. The basketball guys who have seen them seem to think highly of them and their chances. I saw this morning that a 12 seed wins approx 37 % of the time. If Klesmit is fully healed and if Wahl can stay on the court I think the Badgers can win comfortably and Iβm picking them.
Enjoy the games.
A school like James Madison canβt really simulate the rough and tumble physical style that the Badgers should bring to the table. UW also has a real size advantage inside with guys like Wahl.
I know they played and beat Michigan State earlier in the year but thatβs when you want to play the Spartans - before they figure things out later in the season. So not sure you can take away much from that game.
How unbanged up Bucky can get in the next couple days will determine how this game goes. Chucky, Wahl, Max and Blackwell all need as long a break as possible.
Just a week ago I would have said "no way", but the Badgers have their mo-jo back from earlier in the season. The big difference is they started playing their asses off again this weekend.
Looks like they got the maximum possible rest after the 4 in 4.
