While drugs may not have directly killed him, he had a long, self-admitted battle with cocaine for over two decades. That takes its toll.

Even without the drugs, a lot of these comedians have health problems because of the lifestyle. It's a lot of late nights eating fried food and hanging out in smoky bars. Saget tweeted out something at 3 AM the same day he died.
It's hard to separate out the drugs from this for stand-up comics, but Carlin was lucky to live to be 70. He had major heart problems starting at around 40. Pryor died at 65 (but probably ingested enough coke to kill dozens of people). Robin Williams at 63. Mitch Hedberg was 37. Shandling died in his 60s. Kinison was killed by a drunk driver in his 30s, but he was not on a good trajectory.
The outliers (either who have lived a long time or appear to be healthier for their ages) are guys like Bob Newhart and maybe Seinfeld and Ray Romano who got out of the grind of stand-up at a young age and had more normal schedules with TV shows. Of course, there are outliers like Rickels and Dangerfield who were doing shows into their 80s and lived long lives.
I would argue Jackie Mason lived too long for my liking.

Outliers? What about Cosby? Apparently, raping helps you live longer. That he is out of jail is a disgrace to the American legal system.

The fact he is out of jail just shows that if you have enough money you can avoid real justice in the US.
