Portis is suspended for taking the wrong painkiller. He thought he was taking Toradol but instead took Tramadol (which is a banned substance).
This seems extreme for misusing something that is not a PED or otherwise illegal.

Well that news sucks out loud. This could drastically impact the Bucks playoff chances. 
Portis will be back with 4 games to go before the playoffs. The problem for them now is to hold onto one of the top 6 seeds. Anywhere from 3-6 really doesn't matter, but if you drop to 7th or 8th, you are a two game losing streak from not making the playoffs and if you drop to 9th or 10th, you have to win two games to get in.

I'm sure he screwed up and deserves some punishment. I'm just contrasting it with the punishments guys get for beating up their girlfriends/wives (in cases where there is clear evidence it's not a false claim)
I’m not buying it. I think the suspension is excessive but Portis is a moron for not being 100% sure.
Yet another reason he should have been dealt at the deadline.
It would be pure Bucks to see this drop them to the 7 seed and get bounced by a play in team.

This will force them to play Jericho Sims, who is basically a poor man's Clint Capela. He's a very good defensive player with absolutely no offensive game outside of lobs and layups. Portis is often instant offense, but can't guard guys on the perimeter, so he'd give up 13 points in 20 minutes, but give up 20. Sims is the type of guy that will score 3 but only give up 10.
I am surprised there is an issue with Tramadol. My wife takes that 3 times a day for chronic pain. I would have thought he would have a prescription for that with a good reason in the job he does.

I would bet that's what was going on when he was out for 6 games for "personal" reasons in January.
