I'm going to make this brief as we're heading out for breakfast with Roger.
A couple points. This is the first year me & my buddy don't necessarily like our first round selections. Both taking a wait & see attitude.
Some info on the Niners....
Niners GM (Baalke) had placed their selection (AJ Jenkins) in the envelope & sealed it before the draft started. They were very sure he'd be there at #30 & decided to just take their guy instead of trading down (or perhaps they couldn't trade down.) I disagree with their pick. Too early for AJ Jenkins IMO.
Traded texts with Chad yesterday. Nothing eart-shattering. He's toiling away behind the scenes for NFL Network. Haven't seen him this trip.
Complete shocker with the 2 trades up yesterday. Nobody saw that coming but it's quite obvious TT had his pool of guys then must've felt a large dropoff if he stayed put. Jumping an entire 3rd round & only giving up a 5th. I'll take that trade up any day, any year, period.
Another obvious factor, we had too many draft picks & not all would make the team. It's good business to trade up & maximize the picks to good, solid players. I hope the guys we selected turn into excellent football players.
Ok, heading out to the hall early today. Hope breakfast is good. I'll keep you posted if I hear anything new & exciting.
