The coaches love him. Hope he plays well this season.

But wouldn't start for the Vikes.
(I'll delete my post in the Bishop thread - this warrants it's own)
Player development is for chumps.
Three posts and this thread hasn't yet turned into an AJ Hawk is the worst person ever put on the planet thread?
It must be a holiday.
We'll find out soon enough if the faith that MM and TT have in him is misplaced. He very well could be just like Bishop and only needed an opportunity.
Jones was a good player last season. He's long, fast, and can cover. He isn't Ray Nitschke and won't blow people up but this is 2013 and not 1974. His one failing was missing too many tackles last season. Clean that up and he's really good. I think he's smart and aware on the field too, sort of the anti-Erik Walden.

Huh? I don't see that at all.
Either that or he found AJ Hawk's picture stash. Speaking of AJ, Jones had better keep his head on a swivel. Barnett, Bishop and Smith? Once can be written off but three is a trend. Just sayin'.
(for JJSD )
Brad Jones had some very good games last year, but there is no denying he was brutal against Peterson and Kaepernick (but a lot of guys were, especially against Kaepernick). I'm really hoping that going into the season as a starter along with the addition of Datone Jones and Nick Perry (and possibly Jolly) will help him grow as a player.
Jones is solid. PFF loves him, graded him as a Top 10 ILB last year.
Jones & Hawks "measurables" were pretty close coming out of college:

The "rap" on Hawk has been that he is not instinctive & "overthinks". Definitely does not look as athletic on the field as his tested stats would indicate.
Jones had a great first year but has become just a player. Last year he missed toomany holes and assignments. If TT beleives a guy like him can make an impact is just hilarious.
I smell smurf.
For me, with the exception of CMIII, the defensive front seven is a concern. These guys have a lot of trouble stopping the run and getting pressure on the QB. These guys are in development and better improve in a hurry or SF and MN will eat them up again.

The return of Perry and the addition of Datone Jones are upgrades.
HUGE upgrades
Perhaps one of the issues for Jones was the role he has been used- if memory serves, he was used all over the place... maybe a jack of all trades master of none. But in a defined role perhaps he'll flourish.

Raji really needs to play with a more consistent motor. He got absolutely manhandled in the SF playoff game. We need for him to be a difference-maker.
FLPACKER is right. We need Raji to play like he did down the stretch last year (excluding the SF game). He was pretty dominant in the last few weeks of the season last year, even against MIN in Week 17.
