I'm not sure this is a smart move on his part. I saw one projection where he's the 121st player taken in the draft.

MADISON, Wis. -- Braelon Allen has played his last game as a Wisconsin Badger.

The junior tailback announced Tuesday that he will forgo UW's bowl game and enter his name in the 2024 NFL Draft.

One of the most accomplished tailbacks in school history, Allen rushed for 3,494 yards and 35 touchdowns over the last three seasons. His 3,494 rushing yards ranks ninth in school history.

Interesting question concerning the Packers. As a mid round pick I could see it. He showed he could catch the ball which he needed to do. But the Packers still need to land a bell cow and I don't see Allen filling that role, just not quick enough to the hole.

I agree.  I think he is an ok back but I think his lack of that speed will hurt him.  I see him as a 6 or 7th round guy or someone who will be a FA.

Would I want him in GB? maybe as depth.

I wonder when NIL money will start to hinge on bowl game appearances to incentivize some of they guys playing in a bowl game

I to a certain extent get it that these players sit out meaningless bowl games to protect themselves against injury and their NFL future.  But  at the same time maybe if they are losing NIL money that will give them the incentive to play.

Dilin Jones is one of the higher rated RB recruits they’ve ever had coming in next year.  Darrion Dupree is pretty damn talented too.  Both guys fit this offense so much better than Allen.

Allen isn’t going to get any better by  sticking around.  He also can’t stay healthy.

The guy they really missed this year was Keeanu Benton.

These guys don't declare blindly. The NFL Draft Advisory Board reviews players and gives them an assessment of their prospects for/in the draft and with the number of fifth-year guys available still this year it will temper opinons some.

In general, they tell a player whether they think they are a first-round, second-round or neither, the latter is where they advise the player to go back to school. Of course players can ignore the advice, but the board has a pretty good track record.
