I think this guy deserves his own thread. So last week per pff, Cox had their highest score among all edge defenders. Since we traded Preston:

Cox: 13 pressures, 4 sacks, 2 hits, 7 hurries, in 131 snaps

Smith (with Steelers): 6 pressures, 0 sacks, 0 hits, 0 hurries, in 142 snaps

A lot of consternation over the move when it happened. Kudos to MLF, Haffley, and Gutey, they obviously knew more than many on the outside.

FTFY.

He had so many games as inactive, I thought he was going to be a guy that just couldn't break through.
I'm thinking the coaches started noticing a difference in practices, and what they saw was a factor in the P Smith decision.
He has taken advantage of the opportunity, and good on him for being ready.

He's aggressive. He brings energy & toughness in his play.

This entire team has taken on Josh Jacobs toughness instead of the pillowy soft milquetoast defenses we've seen in the past.

I could cry.....

Herman said that Cox jumped out in OTAs / mini camp, but when the pads came on in camp he disappeared. Coaches said that he started making plays on scout team once the season started , which gave them confidence he could produce given the opportunity

This guy fell because he couldn’t play well with others.  Kicked out of two schools.  Talent was never the question

If he can grow up mentally, Packers scored.   If he finds success in the NFL, will the behavior problems return?   Probably.

He's been in Green Bay for over a year and a half now with zero problems, as far as I know. I don't recall any reports concerning being late to meetings/practice, slacking off, having a bad attitude, arrests, or any other signs of immaturity.
I'd say he's definitely trending in the right direction.

I hope he's turned the corner, professionally and personally. He's not wealthy, but likely has more coin than he's ever had. Definitely enough to find previous bad habits, and that can be a dangerous, if not deadly, combination.

On a more positive note, he could be in line for a nice payday. His current contract will pay him $1.03M next year, and he's also earned playoff monies last year, and will do so again this year. I'm guessing he didn't play enough to earn any performance bonus from the league, but an extra $90K+ (or more!) every year is nice pocket change.
Continued solid play could earn him an extension.
