Big bruha in the game tonight. Gomez hits a home run in the 1st and watches it from the plate, flips the bat and jogs around the bases. Gomez, Freddie freeman and 1 other Brave is ejected. Gomez never did touch home plate as McCann blocked the plate.  Wild!!

Gomez certainly pujolsed that home run.  The response from Freeman was over the top, but I'm not sure I would complain if a Brewer had done the same thing.  I do kinda wish Gomez had just run McCann over though.

Just a simple disagreement as to where the players want to go to eat after the game.

Maholm has hit Gomez twice in his career, once in the opening series of this season in Milwaukee.  He plunked him in the leg and you can see Gomez point to his leg when approaching 3rd base.

Sure Gomez was a bit overboard, and seemed to be "want to fight guy" tonight...but what's with the ATL turn inning into the Cardinals "baseball police" brigade? Just what a couple of weeks, and brewhahas with WAS, FLA, and now MKE?

Terry Pendleton was moving toward Go-Go as fast as he was 20 years ago.

Boy is Brian Anderson full of schit. He says Gomez didn't start yakking until  Freeman and McCann did. Not true. You can see Gomez yakking at Maholm before he is even half way to 1st base. And how could Maholm be talking when he has a bubble blowing out of his puss. As soon as he passed freeman then Freeman joins in but this was all on Gomez.  Not that there is anything rong with that.  And wasn't Johnson kicked out? He is about the only guy who threw and landed any punches.

I hope that the Crew's other pitchers were paying attention tonight.

Lohse threw a masterpiece at the East Div champs.

A 2-hitter and ONLY throwing 89 pitches in a complete game effort.

The Crew beat the Braves 4 out of 6 games this year and ALL 4 wins via the shutout.

That was one of the most ridiculous things I have ever seen (Gomez and his antics after the HR).  I actually laughed a little bit how over the top he was about the "celebration" but he needs to act a little more like he's been there.   Guys get hit all the time.  Look at Ryan Braun.  Or Fielder when he was here.   Or Rickie Weeks!    It's part of the game.

The shame of it is that his BS overshadowed a really good pitching performance by Lohse.  For as disappointing as the year has been he's been one of the bright spots this year and he's earned his money.    If there were 50 games left in the season I'm not so sure that Milwaukee couldn't be in the running for a playoff spot because in the last couple of months their starting pitching has really come around.    If Thornburg can keep this up they should have a pretty good rotation going into next year.

I am also encouraged. The staff will make or break this team, and that includes the BP (which is more of a question mark at this stage).  Still, with a healthy Braun and another year for these younger players, it's looking like there's a chance they can contend next year. If they can avoid losing 22 games in May next year...

Maholm is a punk.  In his interview, he said that if Gomez didn't like being plunked he should have came out to the mound when it happened.  Gomez handled it like a man by jacking a ball out of there.  Only thing he should have done different is speared McCann with a running start.

Nice job by Gomez.  Someone drills you in the knee on purpose and the very next time you see him you go yard job on him.... yes, I have no problem with him telling Maholm all about it.

Bravo Carlos.  However, next time McCann gets in your way keep going.  If he pushes or hits you.... then rock his f'n world.  Im sorry but big ol Brian McCann wouldn't stand a chance vs. Gomez.  Gomez would eat his world up despite the size difference.

Absolutely.  The punk here is McCann.  He did something similar to the rook pitcher from Florida too...jawjackin him at home.
