The Brewers are getting jack squat from the 3 highest paid position players. What's up with that?

Wait a second.
We traded JJ Hardy?
Who are you talking about?
The biggest salary-earners for the 2014 season:
Aramis Ramirez $16 million
Matt Garza $12.5 million
Yovani Gallardo $11.25 million
Granted, Aramis Ramirez has hit a very cold cold streak. But for the first 20 games of the season, he was great, hitting .347 with 4 HR and 16 RBI. A very good .888 OPS. And the last two games, he's 3 for 6 with a home run. It was that 2 for 42 spell that brought his average way down. But he's on a 162 game pace to hit 24 home runs and drive in 102 runs. So, getting "nothing" is overstating it a bit. He's a big part of the reason why we jumped out to the big start.
You'll get no argument from me about Garza, but I do think he'll improve.
Yovani Gallardo hasn't been bad. Even though he's lost his last two starts, he's still sporting a 2.92 ERA for the season. That's pretty darned good. He hasn't given up more than 4 runs in any of his eight starts. If Gallardo is able to get just a few more strikeouts per start, I think his numbers can be even better. But to say we've gotten jack squat from him, again, untrue.
Since when are pitchers considered "position players"?
