Brewers added 2 pitchers yesterday, sort of.  First they acquired Bryce Wilson from Pittsburg for cash.

Second they signed former Brewer Wade Miley to a 1 year contract with a second year option pending passing a physical.  Miley pitched for the Brewers in 2018 making 4 post season starts.  Since then he has pitched for the Astros, Reds and last season for the Cubs, a season where injuries cost him all but 37 innings.  He had a 3.98 ERA with 33 starts for the Astros in 2019  and a 3.37 ERA with 28 starts for the Reds in 2021 including a no hitter.  If he is healthy it looks like he can still get the job done. Welcome back Wade.

Miley is a solid addition because I think Counsel is sold on a 6 man rotation. But this gives the Brewers 7 and it will be interesting to see if this puts Houser or Ashby in the pen. I'd really like to see Ashby emerge as a starter but if he can improve his control he'd be an ideal setup man for Williams. Bush has a little trouble keeping the ball in the park.

I've actually seen Wilson pitch some decent games but his numbers don't show it. His stuff is good enough and he's out of options so maybe he makes the team.

Trading Topa for Hernandez sounds like a great deal by the brewers FO.  Topa is 31 and often injured.  Hernandez is 22 and was pitcher of the year in the California League this past season. He had a 3.39 ERA 143 Ks in 116. 2 innings. Opponents batted .193 against him.   And Brewer fans can catch more of Hernandez as he was sent to the Wisconsin based Timber Rattlers.
