day to day

Segura hit the dirt in pain but stayed in the game for two more innings before exiting. The Brewers said he'd suffered a bruised left thigh, and he will be reevaluated before Monday's afternoon game against the Cubs at Wrigley Field.

"I don't think it's all right," Segura said. "I think it was a little dirty. … He was across the base and when he slid, he brought his knee up and across."

Brewers manager Ron Roenicke had a different view of Parra's slide.

"Fine," Roenicke said. "He's going in there thinking he has to break up two. By the time he gets that close to Seggy, he doesn't know that [Betancourt] bobbles that ball. I thought it was fine."
I'm having a tough time giving up when they have played only six games and Braun, Hart and ARam have already missed 11 total games. They just have to tread water for the first two months and they will still have chance. Remember they were 0-4 to start the season in 2011 (season they set a franchise record for wins).

I usually don't get too worked up over lineups and how the roster is built but I am having a hard time understanding how they can roll with AGonz and Yuni at the corners. I could see it for a couple of days but obviously they are going with this until ARam gets back. They have someone sitting in Nashville who actually plays one of the positions full time and hits LH which they could use another one of anyway.
How does Weeks let 3 pitches go by with a runner on 3rd and 1 out? Add in the fact that the pitcher is coming up behind him and its completely unacceptable. Just pathetic baseball from a mental midget.

Some could argue he thought Braun was coming up and not just a decoy.. OK, so what, you still have to have the stones to drive in the run. Also, wouldn't RR have informed his players of this plan?

This team is just bad... Its more than a talent issue.
The worst part of the roster is having to carry 13 pitchers!!! Needing 8 relievers just hamstrings the position players available. Going into a game with only 4 bench players is going to come back to bite them many more times like it did yesterday.

Find some relievers who can actually do their job so you don't need to mix and match 8 of them together. Having starting pitchers that can go past the 5th inning would help, too.

Still not jumping ship, though. They've looked terrible for the first week - just need to find a way to stay close to .500 until everyone is healthy.

I think we can see now why Melvin felt he had to sign Lohse. Outside of Gallardo and Lohse there's not really a pitcher you feel confident sending out there.

If you couple that with the fact they've played the last few games without Hart, Braun, and Ramirez winning any game is going to be difficult.

Aoki
Gomez
Segura
Weeks
Gonzalez
Schafer
Bentacourt
Maldonado

That might be one of the worst offensive lineups the Brewers have ever put out. I like Aoki-Gomez-Segura-Weeks when they are the weak part of your lineup, not the first four hitters.
The Cubs come into their firs homestand really struggling to score, but getting solid pitching from their starters. We'll see what happens.

They need to get off the Schneid and win this week. Week to week they need to play above .500 baseball to get out of this early hole and get to June/July with a reasonable chance to make a move. There's a lot of good talent on this tam, it's just taking longer to come together. Like last year, when it does, they'll go on a big run. Just get to AS break .500 or better...
Thats a smart move by RR there, for a lot of reasons.

I do not luv Axford but IMO, we need him this year as the grind plays out over the next 6 months. I pray he gathers it up and uses all of his tools instead of panicing and getting a little tunnel-visioned.
LuCroy needs to help him out here and don't spoonfeed Ax when he is in ... gettin on his arse a little bit and making him be aggressive might be more of an answer than they think.

Go Crew !!

Ya don't read that every day.

I can't stand the guy.. I know it's par for the course for fans to hate the manager, but he is useless. Struggles with the pen, his aggressive base running with one of the top slugging teams makes no sense, lineups are head scratchers ,players often seem unaware of situations and fundamentals are lacking.

Some quick examples from the 1rst 6 games:

Yesterday he had Gonzo batting cleanup.. Rock noted this was the 1rst time in his career.. Way to be a trend setter Ronald.

How many outs on the base paths so far? There was 3 on opening day alone.

I don't have any real issues with the pen so far, but it's just a matter of time before some Manager "TLR's" him and he is left completely embarrassed.

I will never forgive him for starting 58 year old Jim Edmunds in CF during the NLCS.
