It was time for Lorenzo Cain to hang things up, but that is not an inside-the-park HR if Cain is playing.

It was the right idea to replace Cain, but maybe not with a 30 year old 174 career hitter with very little upside.

I love baseballs meaningless stats

And he maybe the only switch hitter to do it.

Why Boxberger in the 8th today??   Williams/Hader should've finished this one out.   They didn't pitch yesterday and a day off tomorrow.

Instead we get Trevor Gott in the 8th with two guys on in a tie game. It worked out, but it's not clear where they go from here with Boxberger, Williams, and Hader all out of the game or unavailable.

i do like that Keston did some good today

Disappointing series to say the least. The Brewers scored 2 runs the last 17 innings against the Cubs.

Yes, Hader took the loss, but when your pitching staff gives up 2 runs against an inferior team that is nowhere near you in the standings, you need to win that game.

Taylor is the replacement for Cain.

Taylor replaced him as the starter, but Davis got Cain's roster spot as the 2022 late inning defensive replacement (basically Jackie Bradley Jr.). I'm just not sure what Davis gives you for the roster spot that Cain didn't.
