Via Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer, Holmgren says Lerner is selling the controlling interest in the team.

Holmgren also says the Browns won’t be leaving Cleveland. However, Holmgren declined to address whether he would be leaving Cleveland. He said questions regarding his status will be “answered down the road.”

That likely means Holmgren eventually will be moving on, and moving out. With Lerner making avoiding disruption to the team his top priority, if Holmgren were staying, he’d say so.

The deal, per Cabot, is close. Which means that Holmgren’s future likely already has been addressed.

Our guess? He remains in place through the 2012 season, then walks away.
i was annoyed with Holmy when he came back his first game with Seattle and kept screaming at the ref to get Earl Dotson off the field when Earl had a melt down during the game. I kind of thought that was not cool. And then Bert ran off the field with his head under a hoodie after being embarrased. I think that was Ray Rhodes team. What a disaster....
As part of his agreement to buy the Browns, Jimmy Haslam III retired his Steelers watch Thursday in favor of a Browns watch -- the first of what might be many changes. Former Philadelphia Eagles president Joe Banner will assume the same role with the Cleveland Browns, possibly spelling the end of Mike Holmgren and Tom Heckert in Cleveland, two league sources told CBSsports.com on Thursday. NFL Network learned earlier that Banner would be part of [Haslam's] executive management team, but Banner's exact role has yet to be announced. One source told CBSsports.com that Haslam will "blow (the) whole place up" in reference to the Browns' front office. Browns president Holmgren and general manager Heckert probably will be fired.

YEP. I distinctly remember TOG playing such a horrible game and throwing so many terrible INTs. And he acts like a weenie and hides his head under a towel or hoodie as cameras followed him off the field. I always thought that little pouting display was a bad omen about TOG and years later in 2008 it came to be.
