And here I actually got my hopes up that we’d land Jimmy Butler. He would have helped our defense immensely.

The Bucks under Jon Horst are FUBAR. To think we have Giannis, who likely retires a top ten player in NBA history, and we get one Finals appearance with him.

One.

But that’s what Wisconsin teams with generational talents do. One championship.

The most gifted passer in NFL history, the hardest position to fill in all of sports? One championship because our front office refused to better the team through free agency, or draft impact skill players. Instead: they pissed away all our draft capital on project defenders that flopped.

What’s funny or interesting (maybe both) is it’s not like Golden State gave up a ton to get Jimmy Butler.  Milwaukee could have done some version of Middleton and Portis and their 2031 pick to get him.   Assuming 2 year extension, would you not have wanted to see this year and next with Giannis, Dame, and Butler?

Instead, they get Kuzma who doesn’t really address anything of note and a backup center from the Knicks.

It saves them money and gets them under the second apron (which has severe consequences down the road if you stay over it).

I hate the trade too, but imagine what the Bucks would look like the remainder of this year and next if they were paying Jrue Holiday and Khris Middleton a combined 70 million dollars.

The Bucks title window really ended when Middleton slipped on the floor in Game 2 against the Bulls in 2022. Giannis and him finished two playoff games together after that - both in 2023 when Giannis came back in Games 4 and 5 still hurt.

The won a title and then were able to play 1 healthy playoff game together after that.

I believe there is Z-E-R-O chance Miami wanted Butler in the Eastern Conference. That's why he's in Golden St.
