Giannis out with an ankle "injury".

ESPN pissed. They are now spending 5 minutes talking while showing Giannis warming up and looking pretty healthy.
How many games have Middleton or Giannis both missed in the last 8 years?
I thought it was inevitable Giannis would start taking rest games. They had a long season last year and a short offseason going into this year. Sucks for ESPN, but the Bucks have a bigger picture in mind than a meaningless Friday Night game in November.
Since the start of the 2013-14 season, at least either MIddleton or Giannis has played 699 of the 705 games. The only game they both missed that wasn't a planned rest day for most of the starting lineup was January 8, 2017.
The other 5 were the following:
March 31, 2019 (rested 4 starters)
March 9, 2020 (all starters rested)
March 27, 2021 (all starters sat)
April 9, 2021 (all starters sat)
May 16, 2021 (all starters sat)
Bucks hang even after the first. Tied at 30.
The Celtics have thrown at least three passes away in the first half that were uncontested and just throw out of bounds.
Bucks up 55-51 at the half.
Doing well with Holiday the only starter available.
The Celtics are starting to assert themselves right now. 7-0 run to go up 3.
Holiday is 0 for 8 from three tonight.
Man. Nwora has shit the bed at the end of the third quarter for the second game in a row. Bucks down 8, but Nwora's defense and a bad turnover have been a problem
I know the Bucks are decimated by injuries right now, but is Holiday hurting still? In the month of November, heβs 25 for 72 shooting. I know that having all bench guys around him is going to mean theyβre keying on him tonight, but 35.7% from the floor in November is worrying, even with his stellar D.

Well, Iβd rather he gets potty trained now while the rest of the big dogs are kenneled.
I donβt know how you guys feel, and I havenβt had much opportunity to watch the Bucks this season, thus far. But I think Nwora, if he develops into an even decent defensive player, could be a real star. The guys has some real touch shooting. All he had to do is get up to speed at the NBA level, and his perimeter shooting could really take the Bucks offense to the stratosphere.
Is it wishful thinking on my part, or does he really have that kind of offensive ceiling?
As good as Grayson Allen was against the Knicks, he's been almost as bad tonight. They are using him in pick and roll as the initiator and he just isn't suited to it.
Boston starting to pull away. The record is ugly, at 6-7 (likely, though this one is not done yet). But to quote Cinderella Man, Iβm hoping all this time for the bench players will pay dividends in the later rounds.
Hanging around .500 with DDV still not back, Lopez missing all but one game, KM missing 8 and Jrue not playing at his levelβ¦the media better give Giannis some credit. Heβs second in the NBA in PER, and heβs doing it with little supporting cast.
That was a brick from PC.
You would think that after going 0 for 9 from 3, that Jrue would maybe stop. But no. 5 for 20 and 0 for 10 from 3. Ouch.

The fear I have is that while Nwora is clearly an NBA-level talent on offense, he's not the right kind of talent for the Bucks.
Nwora has one of the prettiest step-back 3s in the NBA. It's elite level. But to hit shot, he needs to handle the ball for several seconds before shooting it. He's pretty good on pullups inside the arc, too. But, to be successful he needs to be a high-usage/high-possession player. He's just a little above average as a catch-and-shoot guy. Grayson Allen is the opposite. He's a great catch-and-shoot guy, but worse on the move.
To play for the Bucks, you are not going to be a high-usage/high-possession player. Giannis and Middleton are going to get the ball on most possessions. If they don't, you have Holiday and George Hill. You aren't going to give Nwora the ball 15 times a game and try to get a step-back 3.
Nwora has a lot of value on a team fighting to get an 8th seed. That's why he's potential trade bait.
Nice shot by Allen. 4 point game.
As a fan, these types of situations are frustrating. You get the big picture of not playing Giannis tonight, but he was not really that hurt and if he plays this is a 15 point win.
If they end up as a 6 seed or better at the end it doesn't matter, but you'd like to get a few more wins under your belt instead of struggling to stay near .500 this far into the season.
Nice D, Bucks.
1 point game.
OH MY!!!!!
Allen drilled that!
Bucks come back to tie it at 108 with 13.6 seconds left as Grayson Allen drains 2 threes in the last 90 seconds. Celtics ball. Run Giannis in to play defense quick. Just kidding.
Overtime. Portis forced a tough runner that Tatum couldn't hit.
The Bucks are going to overtime in a game Giannis, Middleton, Lopez, and DDV didn't play and the only preferred starter that did went 1 for 12 from three (Holiday).
Here we go
Bucks defense has been good most of the game despite having almost no rim protection. It would be nice to get an update on Brook Lopez.
Good effort, but not enough.
Holiday 1 for 13 from three.
You what not having Giannis or Lopez does. Every Celtics shot it seems is at the rim. That NEVER happens with Giannis out there.
Solid effort minus top 2. Seemed like they chased a few 3s when they didnβt have to
Holiday is 6 for 25 overall and 1 for 14 from three.
Outrebounded 60-47. Holiday with one of the worst shooting games you'll ever see.
How in the world did that get to overtime?
Like the effort. Starting backcourt 12/41 isnβt getting it done. And this continues to be a concern- Holidayβs shooting. Mostly bad in the playoffs. Mostly bad now. Like something is missingβ¦

The more I watch Nwora the less I like him. He just seems to make the wrong decisions too often for my taste. If heβs open and standing still heβs got a great shooting stroke and thatβs at least something to build on.
Maybe he can get better, but it can be frustrating to see him make critical brain farts at times. I fear heβs one of those guys that can tantalyze you with a great game here and there, but most of the time his shaky decision making will frustrate you.
I thought Nwora played well, the past two or three games. Getting to watch the Bucks is very hit or miss here, due to my cable provider not having Fox Sports Wisconsin in their line up. When I do get to watch, I try to soak up as much as I can. I like Nwora off the bench. I really like what Grayson Allen brings when he plays. Ojelye has some good moments, as well. Last night the Bucks overcame a deficit to tie up the game at the end of regulation, only to lose it in OT. The bench gained a lot of experience without Middleton, Lopez, DDV and now, Giannis, in the lineup. Can't wait for those guys to get healthy, again.
When you consider the roster and who played itβs pretty remarkable that they pushed Boston to the limit. Had Jrue Holiday made a few more shots, they win that game.
Iβm not particularly excited that they are 6-7, but other than their 1st game when they blew out Brooklyn itβs not like theyβve had their team intact. Itβs clear to me the Bucks are playing the long game and as I said earlier this week I expect teams like Chicago and Cleveland and a few others in the East to come back to the pack.
