Badgers trailed most of the second half- but are on a 12-0 and are up 5.

Reuvers with the HUGE follow of the Trice miss- Badgers up 4 with :18 seconds.
The Badgers are at least co-B1G Champions... UN-friggin-believable.
Potter! Rebounds in the last few minutes were crucial to say the least.
How about that Greg Gard? Pretty nice coaching job the last half of the season!
Davison cold as ice for the win with 2 killer 3s and a pair of FTs to seal it. Reuvers and Potter huge inside on the boards- offense and defense. Potter got 3 HUGE offensive boards that lead to 7 points in the clutch.
They were 5-5. They were 13-10 and had lost 4 of 6 after Minnesota embarrassed them. 7 straight wins later, they have a share of the Title.

Iβm still not buying- but this team is winning and thatβs what itβs supposed to be doing. They played well today- Indiana at home fighting for their Tournament spot. Down 51-44, they go 12-0 and take the lead. Then make all the plays down the stretch. Itβs a great win.
Thereβs no ignoring how bad this team and this program has been for 2+ years. UW cannot accept that. But Potter seems to have been the catalyst. With the class coming in, is it finally the return of this program to where it belongs- on top of the B1G? It had better be- 13-10 is bullshit.
#Badgers Greg Gard brought all his assistants in the interview room. He is fighting back tears. Said he will take trophy to Howard Moore so he can rub it.

It doesn't matter what any of us think of Gard. He might win Coach of the Year in the Big 10. He's a lifer. Other than Tony Bennett (who is never coming), you probably aren't going to get anyone else here that's significantly better and most options would be worse.
His records from this year to his first year are 21-10, 23-11, 15-18, 27-10, and 15-8.
His 15-18 record was after he lost 4 senior starters the year before - Hayes, Koenig, Showalter, and Brown.
Am I correct in thinking this team is better than last year when it had the all time Badger rebounding leader and 3rd all time scoring leader on the it? Happ was a real fine player but at times he was a black hole and we all recall his problem at the line. The Potter and Ruevers combo seems to be just what the doctor ordered
AND AGAIN,........WHO THE HELL MISSES KOBE KING??? not me.
Goldie only misses the white players.

I donβt think thatβs acceptable. This is his program. Heβs accountable for that.
But itβs good for a guy who by all accounts is a damn fine human being, getting an emotional win to bring a trophy to Moore, a longtime friend, after such a tragedy.
If nothing else itβs a great, feel good story that I hope doesnβt end until theyβre standing on top of the mountain.

Reuvers is already a better player than Happ was, IMO. Reuvers can shoot 3s and can make Free Throws--things Happ did not do, or do very well, as a Badger. Add Potter's play and we have two players who could give Happ a run for his money. Wisconsin has a really nice One-Two punch with Reuvers and Potter and they will be Badgers for a while, as well!

King is half white, at least.

Reuvers can shoot, Happ couldn't.
Happ could makes plays around the basket. Happ could rebound. Reuvers isn't good at either of those things.
Totally different players but I know one thing. I'd rather have Reuvers in the game late with the score close.

The most unfortunate thing with Reuvers is that he should be a redshirt junior right now with two years of eligiblity left. He was forced to play as a freshman because that was the down year and the Badgers basically wasted a year of him in top form to go 15-18 (instead of maybe losing 3-4 more games if they'd have let him develop in the weight room). The kid gave them quality minutes, but he needed that extra year (like Happ got).
Bucky the #1 seed for the B10 tournament.

I wonder how much money you could have won if you'd have wanted to bet that would happen about 6 weeks ago?
Also, they lose one player (Pritzl) after this year. The incoming recruiting class is ranked 19th in the country and they have 3 four star commits for the 2021 class.
From Gard looking like a dead man walking less than 6 weeks ago to where they are now might be almost as surprising as anything in Badger basketball history outside of the run to the Final 4 by Dick Bennett's team 20 years ago.
Kobe King's finger will never have a championship ring on. Boy, did he blow it big time.
In other news Joe Lunardi has Bucky as a 4 seed in the the Midwest vs, New Mexico State. Five weeks ago they were maybe a 9 seed if in the NCAA at all. Incredible.
#Badgers won a share of the B1G title with no player on first or second teams. According to BTN, this is the first time that has ever happened in the B1G. All-conference voting started in 1948.

Coach of the Year
Iowa-Grant School District is very proud of these alumni brothers, Greg & Jeff Gard. Both were recently honored as being Coach of the Year in their respective basketball conferences. Greg is in his fifth season as the UW men's basketball coach. The Badgers are 21-10 overall and finished with a 14-6 record in the Big 10. They share the Big 10 championship title with Maryland and Michigan State. Jeff Gard in his 11th season as the UW-Platteville men's basketball coach. He led the Pioneers to a 23-5 overall record and the Pioneers were crowned the 2020 WIAC champions with a conference record of 12-2.
