Take this for what it's worth, but I listen to the "Win in Six" podcast about the Bucks (SoundCloud). Lots of chatter on this GM pick, and concern.

If they wonus up with a John Hammond disciple, why get rid of Hammond at all? The open search was supposed to get a new direction going, yes? 25 days later you get a 34 year old Hammond protege who has been working with him since he was 23?

Justin Zanick was brought to Milwaukee as the Asst. GM, and league wide was considered the favorite. But in the 11th hour, after getting blocked by the Nuggets guy, the re-start and 2 days later Horst is the pick. Seems strange...

But in the end, a search was bungled again- and this ownership group doesn't seem to have the ability to build consensus. Note the conspicuous absence of Mark Lasry at the PC yesterday... I think that sent a prett distinct message. Karnisova withdraws, they did not choose Zanik, and they rush through getting a guy that Rod Thorn (the guy brought in to help the search) never even considered to start with. That screams "fine... f-it." Then at the PC "you go introduce your guy"?

The guys on the Win In Six podcast talked about the fractured relationship between the Atlanta Hawks owners a few years ago that helped scuttle that team... and at that time they were rising. I hope this doesn't tamper the momentum... this team could be special.

Somehow I wonder if Jason Kidd is in the middle of this as well.

It's clear to me, or at least it seems clear, that Kidd and Hammonds clashed at times including the infamous MCW trade that Kidd orchestrated.

I also got the impression that Hammonds was never really given the full responsibility for making moves without clearing it through numerous channels - Kidd and owners included.

Did they land on Horst because he was more prone to be a "yes" person because that's what it looks like to me.
