Listened to Bob Harlan on 1250am the other day talking about this very thing. Said he was thrilled for the Bucks and that he is going to help them with some consulting regarding set up of their new arena.

He went on to say there is no way the team could have remained competitive without a new arena. All the other teams would be working from a great advantage that would continue to widen as the years go by. He thought the Lambeau renovations were in jeopardy if not for winning SB XXXI. Heard all of the same kinds of complaints from Brown County residents along the way too. Said the whole thing cost Brown County residents what amounts to one fish fry, but that those renovations are what has helped to keep them at the forefront and a contender in the NFL.

Regardless, he was impressed by the Bucks organization and their quick turnaround, and was happy to know they were staying here in Milwaukee, and could now move forward and remain competitive. Said it was good for Milwaukee and good for the State of Wisconsin.

How can anyone disagree with a guy like Bob Harlan?

The altered plan includes a $2 ticket surcharge on events at the new arena.  75% of funds raised by the surcharge goes to the Wisconsin Center District portion of the arena funding.  25% goes to the state.

It wasn't in Feigin's plans to have a surcharge occur.

"We talked long and hard, and tried to really stay away from any type of surcharge," said the team president.

"The person who pays the surcharge is the fan...we just didn't want that."

Classy.

His super-rich bosses don't want to pay for it.

The "fans"...well they shouldn't have to pay for it either.

Here's an idea.  Let's get the little old lady who lives in Ashland, the one who doesn't give a rat's ass about the Bucks, to pay for it.

Every extra dollar that a "fan" would have to pay due to a ticket surcharge could possibly be one less dollar that ends up in the pockets of billionaire hedge-fund managers.  Obviously that needs to be avoided at all costs.

So what is the goal here, to shift as much of the cost as possible to the people who care less about the Bucks?  At least the state senate did get the ticket surcharge as part of the deal.  But as for overall deal...thanks Scott Walker (R), Tom Barrett (D), Chris Abele (D).  You all suck.
