It all started with the Lopez cross court pass. That, in effect was game over.
Towards end of the 3rd, could have gotten it to 6, Bobby misses a FT and all of a sudden it's back to 14. Killer.

I donât care about the details. We had two of the top 100 players in NBA history on this team, and we got bounced by a shit Pacers team that will get destroyed in the second round.
We have NOBODY coming. Nobody. Thereâs not a young player worth a spit that will make a significant and contribution in the near future, or any other time. We have a bunch of warm bodies, has beens and never wills. We have continually drafted shit the last five or six years, and added a bunch of past their prime veterans who contributed nothing when it counted. This team is old, and soft, and a major rebuild is absolutely necessary.
And quite frankly, Iâm tired of the underachieving. This is two years in a row weâve been bounced in the first round. The men on this team need to either be able to play, or theyâre gone.

From the sounds of it Jon Horst is probably going to Detroit. So that may take care of itself anyway.
As for the roster, part of me thinks it would be good to see them take one more shot at running it back. At times, Middleton and Dame were really good against Indiana as was Bobby. You add Giannis to the mix and on paper this should be a championship contending team.
The problem is if any of their key players get hurt they donât really have much to back them up. Pat C is washed up. Crowder has been a complete failure. Gallanari plays like heâs 150. Beasley is a slightly better version of Bryn Forbes. Pat Bev is OK, but heâs not a spring chicken either.
I do think they should explore trading Lillard. Heâs the one guy that you could probably help retool the roster plus get us back a couple of much needed draft picks.
You have to figure at a minimum Beasley and Crowder and Gallinari arenât back. I think AJ Green and Jackson Jr could absorb some of those minutes but if you arenât going to trade Dame then the only option is some package of Lopez and Pat C or Beauchamp for something else. Either a 3 and D wing type player or a big man with more athleticism.

A perfect guy to add would be a Marcus Smart type guy or some similar version to play alongside Lillard. Beasley was decent most of the year but you need a more defensive minded guy at the 2 if Dame is on the court.

Indiana is one of the worst teams that has it to a 2nd round series in recent memory. If Giannis played, this is a 4 or 5 game Milwaukee series win.
They are going to get boat raced by the Knicks in Round 2.

Once Giannis went down, they were finished as a true threat. I would guess he probably wouldn't have played in the second round series either, had they made it that far.
The underlying problem all year was the roster construction. You could look at the Holiday/Dame trade as a swap to replace Holiday, but the other way to look at it was the following.
Dame really replaced Grayson Allen as the offensive floor spacer and guy you need to hide on defense. That was as massive an upgrade as you will ever see.
The problem was that the defensive-oriented on-ball defender role went from Jrue to Beasley. Both Griffin and Rivers tried to make Beasley the defensive stopper and he was severely miscast in that role. Beasley wasn't terrible for what his contract was. If he'd have had the Bryn Forbes role (instant offense off the bench) for 15-20 minutes a game he would have been outstanding.
The Bucks actually were much more consistent when they moved Beverly to the starting lineup (they obviously never got to do that in the playoffs). He gave them a chance because he could guard people. Beasley couldn't guard anyone. The 2021 version of Connaughton could have done that as well, but his leg injuries over the past 3 years have made him lose a step he couldn't afford to lose.
The Ibaka and Crowder trades at the 2022 and 2023 deadlines robbed them of any assets they could use to upgrade at the margins. Just absolutely terrible decisions.
The Bucks top 6 guys (remaining big 3 plus Portis, Beverly, and Beasley). in this series played well enough to win in aggregate. The rest of the team was just awful.
Connaughton, Crowder, Green, Jackson, Gallinari, and Beauchamp were 8 for 39 from three. Almost all those shots were wide open because the Pacers schemed to make them beat them. Of those 6 guys, only Jackson Jr. (who is a very good defender) played at least average defense.
