Well, Middleton is supposed to be your second best scorer, so on a night where you are missing so many key players, where are you? You’re MIA… and I am getting tired of seeing it. He’s a max player and he’s playing like a fucking G leaguer…

Holiday was the problem tonight, not Middleton.

Middleton also could not buy a call at all. Nurse worked the officials in a way Ham couldn't or wouldn't do.

Disagree- Middleton was a walking turnover tonight. I don’t expect Holiday to be the top scorer when he’s holding Van Vleet to 7/18 from the floor. Middleton meanwhile allowed Siakam to drop 33, and couldn’t get them a fucking bucket in the final 7 minutes of the third. 25 points from Middleton and 8 were garbage time, and had 3 of his 4 turnovers in the clutch time 4th quarter when the game was in the balance. .

@ShamsCharania:  The Milwaukee Bucks plan to waive center DeMarcus Cousins, sources tell @TheAthletic @Stadium. Bucks are opting for roster flexibility ahead of league-wide contract guarantee date Friday. There’s expected to be interest in Cousins as a free agent.

In other words, ownership wants to save money on the luxury tax, just like they did on PJ Tucker.

Really disappointing. Really, really disappointing.

From Woj:

β€œ On waiving DeMarcus Cousins to open roster spot for trade deadline, Bucks GM Jon Horst tells ESPN: "We wouldn’t have been able to get through this difficult stretch of the season as successfully as we did without DeMarcus...He was so good for us and hopefully we helped him too.

Horst tells ESPN: "...We made a strategic decision to have an open roster spot, but there's nothing that would prevent us from partnering with DeMarcus again down the road." β€œ

I don’t think this is true. There wasn’t a financial component to this- the $$$ wasn’t there.

I think there is something else. There were some moments with the way Cousins played- he liked to get chippy with players and start little bullshit back and forth- and I had my concerns about that, too. Cousins has a big chip on his shoulder- even now- and you give that guy a guaranteed contract you’re rolling the dice for when he decides to give some dude a retaliatory elbow and get t’d up when the ref decides to call it at worst time.

I think this move was about culture. Cousins is and always will be a punk with a big attitude problem.

Portis has some of the same characteristics.

The Bucks need a few guys with an edge to them. Tucker gave them that as well.

For roster flexibility, I'd have cut Ojeleye instead of Cousins. The problem is that Ojeleye already has a guaranteed contract for the year, so cutting him doesn't save any money. Ojeleye gives you almost nothing.

In the end, the playoff rotation is going to be (assuming health), Giannis, Middleton, Holiday, Portis, Connaughton, G. Allen, DDV, Matthews, and G. Hill (and maybe Lopez, but I doubt it). Unless they play Philly (Embiid), Cousins isn't going to play major playoff minutes anyway, but he could have definitely helped them win a few more regular-season games.
