Seriously, I guess I need some sense for how good Illinois' DBs are, but if he looked like this in practice last year it was borderline criminal not to play him last year.

Illinois has a good defense BTW. Coan was awful against them.
I’ll say this- the Badgers have good receivers. Ferguson and Stokke are really good. Groshek is a nifty pass catcher. Jalen Berger is the RB equivalent to Mertz. Watson sucks. Figure it out Chryst.
Mertz threw an incompletion on his first pass attempt last year.
Since then, he's gone 23 of 23 for 253 yards and 4 TDs. I'm guessing he's probably not going to maintain that pace.

I know it ain’t fair to compare, but the RBs leave much to be desired here. A great RB makes OLs look better by feeling the holes and getting into space- these guys don’t have “it”.

I’ve seen enough of Watson in one half to know he’s not very good.
Groshek is solid. But they recruited a 4 star guy in Berger from New Jersey. A dynamite athlete. I don’t think they red shirted him. Play the man.
It’s not an epic tease. Mertz was recruited by 4-5 other legit programs including Alabama. This guy can play.

Appears Bucky has also upgraded the punter position.

Exactly BK they never said he was the "feature back." It was a question mark and RB was predicted to start as a committee.
Groshek has really good feet and vision... but he lacks speed and quickness. He ran well tonight. Watson... I don’t know what they see in him. He’s just not that good.
