I really hope they can keep Aranda for a while.  That defense with a better running game will be tough to beat.  If they could have had that defense on past teams...man...

The schedule get a helluvalot harder next year.  Aranda should stay, and this whole O will be more experienced and tougher.   Hell we beat USC and an SEC crew tonight!  It's a good start.

The Jack Cichy show was cool!

I am happy for Stave. He ends his career as the winningest QB in the history. I am also glad his time is finished at UW. Good luck kid- maybe you can earn a nice career in the NFL as a backup.

It was an up and down year, but to finish it with a win against a ranked USC team is not a bad start to Paul Chryst's career St UW. With Clement coming back and a year under the belt got that OL, the offense should improve. And you keep Aranda at whatever cost is required...

I'm glad to see Stave go because overall he was a pretty mediocre player and would make some bad decisions at the worst time.  But he gets a ton of credit for his performance last night.  Just masterful really.  No major mistakes, and of his 27 throws there were probably only one or two that could have been placed a bit better.

It was nice to see good old fashioned Wisconsin football.  The Badgers physically outmatched them on both sides of the ball.  Chryst did a wonderful job having these guys ready to play.

And another shameful performance by an officiating crew.

Now this is what a game thread should look like.

It was a fun game to watch. Thankfully I have ESPN News. What a garbage way to broadcast football.

Stave finally played a complete game. A couple touchdowns instead of field goals would have been better. The defense definitely gave everything they had, You could tell Cichy was pissed he had to sit out the first half. Definitely had to overcome some piss poor officiating.

I forgot all about the officiating but clearly college football is going the way of the NFL.  Why they blew the McEvoy play dead is beyond me.  That very well could have cost them another game ala Northwestern.

10-3 - although it should be 11-2 with Northwestern- is impressive when you consider all the injuries they had.

Their schedule is brutal next year but stranger things have happened before.  The following year is a favorable schedule like this season.

USC job unlikely for Aranda as Clancy Pendergast will likely take that position.  Only other college job out there that Aranda would probably leave Wisconsin for is the LSU defensive coordinator job but Bo Pelini is probably the front runner for that one.

Talk in Madison is that Aranda's real desire is to coach in the NFL.  So there should be a whole bunch more rumors popping up next week when NFL staffs start falling.

Hopefully this will not be a major disruption to the current recruiting class.  The Badgers had enough issues with this in the past.  Fortunately it doesn't appear that there will be a mass exodus of position coaches heading to Louisiana with Aranda.  For example, Ed Orgeron is the defensive line coach and it's unlikely that Miles would be letting Orgeron get off that staff as he is a true luxury to have as a position coach.

Message boards (BadgerNation in particular) have already lit up...seems like the faithful prefer current Houston defense coordinator Todd Orlando to take over for Aranda.  He's an ex-Badger, took over at Utah State after Aranda left and his defense apparently took it to Florida State in the bowl game.  Houston also ran a 3-4 but I have no idea how similar it is to Aranda's 3-4 defense.  Looks like Orlando would be a good fit.  The rumors of Aranda leaving seem to have been going on ever since he got here, and there has never really been any talk of one of the current assistants getting bumped up to the DC position.  Todd Orlando appears to be a pretty good candidate if the Badgers fill the spot externally.

I think Bucky is going to be fine.  I really like how the team rallied at the end of the year and kept composure despite being F'd by the refs in NW game.

It's a great program and I have faith that PC and BA will get a guy in that can get the job done.   Once we get the sludge of GA's recruiting out and build off of what we have, it's going to continue to be a fun club to watch.

Aranda, who was paid $520,000 annually at UW, is set to be paid $1.3 million annually for the next three seasons. That contract is guaranteed regardless of the status of head coach Les Miles, who was nearly fired this season.

Hard to blame the guy.

Article sites two possible replacements, but I think Orlando is a longshot.  He is already making half a million at Houston, I can't imagine Barry would offer more than that (Barr is no longer responding to my texts after Arranda left). Chryst speaks highly of Tibesar (not shocking) so I would guess the promotion comes from within.
