Word is the organization is open to trading Gomez now (not that word means much).

I love watching Gomez.  How he makes difficult plays look easy (watch his first step sometime and then compare it to Parra, who is a good defender, but does not move initially at all like Gomez) and ever since coaches stopped making him hit for contact he's become an excellent hitter.   But I don't see him as a Brewer in two years, so he has to be on the trade block just for the talent he could bring back.  If the Crew had any shot of contending in '16, I wouldn't trade him for anyone (well, maybe Goldschmidt).

This team is dangerously moving to middle of the pack status (which is what I predicted at the beginning of the season).  They need to trade some of these guys so they can make that top 5 pick happen next year.  Rebuild the franchise, now, I don't think being a contending club would really be that far away.  Hold on to these guys, and you just push back growth for years and maintain being a .500 club.

Me heart GoGo as well. He is also the only semblance of personality on the club (well, maybe except for Garza who seems goofy).

One of the best aspects of that last playoff club was the personalities. Cocky Braun before PEDs and tail between legs, Prince, Nyger, Yuni's smile knowing the dough he is making by sucking, oddball Zack, Axman, etc...

Great post Bong

This is what I worry about with the Brewers.  They get on a roll and build up artificial hype and don't make deals and even worse end up out of the top 10 in the draft.

It looks like a good year to have a high draft pick and they have a few players to trade that should fetch a decent return so they have to do it.  Short term pain for long term gain.  If they continue the "staus quo" they are just pushing back the clock and creating even more distance between them and STL and Pittsburgh and Chicago.

I have more concerns with free agency than I do with draft position.

If the Brewers finish in the area of 77 wins Attanasio might see the ~100-game stretch of poor play as just a fluke and proceed with business as usual.  Considering the money the Brewers have coming off the books this off-season it could be scary how much Attanasio would be willing to pay mediocre free agent talent.

The fans are only stuck thinking "what could have been" if the Brewers mess up their draft position.  However, the fans get stuck watching Jeff Suppan for four seasons if Attanasio decides that his "mid-level free agency" approach is the way to go.
