I wouldn't hire him. Not sure I'd even want him as an OC. I think his true ceiling is QB coach. And I doubt his pride would allow him to take that job. Maybe he could move on to a college gig.

Stephen A from ESPN (yes, we know being dramatic is his whole schtick) pointed out what a lot of Packer fans already knew/know. That is, after all that time off coaching and being in his man cave surrounded by what he thought were the best coaches in the game to dissect the games he coached, analyzing the current top offenses in the NFL, digesting tons and tons of data, soul searching...

Not a fucking thing changed. He hired a dinosaur in Mike Nolan who hadn't coached in years and new nothing in how to coordinate a modern defense. He again hired "yes" men to be his assistants. He's not calling the plays because Jerruh knows his days as an innovative offensive mind are also done.

It's literally the same shit/different day. Maybe Dak being hurt, yet again saves him for a few games. But it would not at all shock me if he's fired by Thanksgiving.

Literally all of his NFL success as head coach is on the back of Brett Favre and Aaron Rodgers.

He did some good work with Aaron Brooks in New Orleans when he was their OC. Can't expect much from his gig in KC (Bono, Gannon and Grbac) and his 1 year in SF was a hot mess but that team did suck.

But anything memorable about McCarthy includes having two HOF QB's to lean on.
