Morgan Burnett Denies Insulting Tony G.

IF Morgan even said that and that's what caused Gonzalez to retire because his teammates didn't defend him?  Wow...he can go play with Brent in the All Butt-Hurt League.

Death to false metal!

What are we in the 3rd grade?

There's a hell of a lot I'm disappointed about regarding Burnett's 2013 performance but this would not be one of them. Call me a homer, but I'm going to take Burnett's word for it that he said none of this. He has zero reputation as far as we know of being a trash talker. Zero.

If that's all it took for TG to retire, then he's a bigger prima donna than I think anyone knew. When I think about it, I can't recall Burnett ever woofing at another player. Of course we can't hear or see everything that happens on the field, but Burnett doesn't seem like a guy who'd go Richard Sherman on anyone.

rec 1,325

yards 15,127
avg 11.4
TDs 111

He may be acting like a baby about this particular incident but I can't call someone who has played 16 years in the NFL and only missed 2 games, put up numbers like those above, and will be a 1st ballot HOF, a "prima donna".

Bush said he did tell TG that he was "a flopper" after one play trying to get a call.

The play was talking abt w/ . Said Bush: "told him he was a flopper tryin to get a call"

So you're the one who said F-- you, you ain't S---? I knew you were a fiery guy!

Naw. I told him he was a flopper, tryin to get a call. And some other words that were exchange. That is undisclosed!

While I think it's fairly obvious that Matt Ryan is the mayor of the really, really good zone for QBs and not yet elite, I wonder why Gonzalez felt the need to go to the media and say stuff like that. And whining about his teammates not defending his honor when a Packer trash talked him? Doesn't make any sense.

There's more going on between Gonzalez and the rest of the Falcons team then he's letting on.

I'd guess he's disappointed to have never played in/won a SB, and although they gave it a run in Atlanta, it's possible it wasn't the right decision for him to go there (with hindsight). I don't know if he had any 'control' over it, but he had to work with his agent to get 'er done.

I also think he wasn't necessarily being disrespectful of Ryan, but he was honest. And totally correct, IMHO. Sometimes the truth hurts.

Ultimately, I'd say the fact that the Falcons didn't win a SB with TG was beyond his or Ryan's control. As I recall, Julio J was injured, they didn't have a rushing attack for chit, and their defense was highly suspect.

And we kicked the holy hell out of them!

Tony Gonzalez told ESPN's Doug Gottlieb on Friday that he would be open to returning to the Falcons if they open the season with a 10-0 record.

Gonzalez was obviously joking, but he's clearly not given up completely on the idea of playing ball in 2014, hinting at a return twice over the last week.  Perhaps by the time training camp starts, the "itch" to play will resurface and Gonzalez will turn in another full year.

Sounds like Tony would play for a team/QB that can win him a ring.  Would look real nice in GB about October.  Bush likely destroyed that.
