Okay, so I see tickets available online, and since this may be the only time my son and I ever get to Lambeau, my inclination is to grab them now. You guys have lots of experience, so please tell me if this isn't a good strategy. Do prices come down as more tickets are offered thru NFL TicketExchange, or will there be so few available that I should secure them now so I don't risk having to pay megabucks for a smaller number of remaining tickets as the season gets closer?
Thanks, guys and gals.

What game and what price are you seeing?

I sold some single seats on ticketmaster for the Broncos game last year at about $180, (80 face value), but then later on in the year, I only got about $120 and the prices were falling. I think that was deer season opening.... So it varies based on opponent.

I'd wait. Unless its the Bears or a key matchup, they will be available. The prices usually drop in the last week on ticketmaster, but there are usually always seats (and good ones) available.
Just out of curiousity, when one buys season tickets, how much are they paying on a per game basis? Reason I'm wondering is the wide range of prices I see for the same game, even in thte same section of the stadium. I realize some are out to make a nice profit, but how much do the tickets cost to the season-ticket buyer on a per game basis?

Yes. There are a lot of people that own tickets just to make a profit.

I'm sure there are. I recall years ago some had dozens of tickets. And supposedly someone had to take a loan to come up with the privilege fee for 80 tickets at a $1000 each (or whatever it was.) I don't know if that is still the case. It would seem reasonable to limit a family or corporation to 20 tickets or so - (ha)

When I moved out of state, the Badgers did not forward my renewals and I lost two great seats. Apparently they are pretty tight on this, but not sure.

As for me, I have three singles for Gold Package. Since I live in AZ, I usually eat the cost of the preseason game, and sell at least one of the other two games.

I think I may have made about $80 bucks profit last year, but it is big business for some.

The Packers and Ticketmaster make good money on this. I think they each get 15% of whatever the sale amount is online.

I have 2 singles for the Gold Package. I usually eat the cost of the preseason game too. Sometimes I even give away the preseason game to someone that wants to go. They scheduled all of them for Thursday this year so I won't be going. I live close enough(3ish hours) away that I can go to the regular season games. If I had to sell, they would be face value.
To try to answer RoyalWulff and others may have different opinions, but it seems to me that the worse time to buy is right now. Especially since everyone is expecting a good year, so the market is at the top. I have had friends buy months before the game and they always pay more than buying game week or two before the game. The only advantage to buying right now is to lock in tickets, so if you are coming in from out of state and want that piece of mind. I try to go to a couple of games a year at Lambeau and we now just buy outside the stadium day of and I haven't felt like I paid more than when purchasing earlier. If the team plays poorly and the weather is bad, prices tend to fall and I have picked up tix at face value (and probably could have gone lower if I wanted to wait. On the other hand, if you are going to a high profile game (especially a playoff game) then you probably want tix in hand before you leave. Its really a matter of comfort, but if you are already willing to to pay over double face value (which I imagine they are going for right now) then you shouldn't have any trouble picking them up for that amount or cheaper the week of the game or even game day.
For reasons I wont bore you with, we are going to the Jacksonville game--last game in October. Want to buy in next few weeks to lock in airfare and other events our trip. If anyone knows a way to buy for thatw/o paying 4x face value or getting ripped off, I would really appreciate your input. Otherwise I'll buy from nfl tcketexchange and eat it just to assure that this "bucket list" trip DOES happen for me and David.
Just to compare prices, you might check out some of the tour packages available with tickets, hotels, etc. Maybe more expensive but probably worth comparing. If you add up everything you would pay separately for including tailgate cost, etc. etc. it might make sense to use these. Here are several.
