Round 2? Let's not get crazee. Most of the people in this thread, barring Pakrz of course, haven't even gotten R1 correct.

I don't get it...the is not CMIII...he's not even in the same league. If he is around in round 3 or 4 maybe...

Nobody knows who TT will take obviously... but round 3 or 4, and even then "maybe?" Stop embarrassing yourself.

Watched the kid for 3 years. I know of what I speak.
He reminds me an awful lot of Brooks Reed... I think he'd flourish in GB's defense under Capers and KG.

PFT Says....What the ****.q's not to like??

A versatile, explosive athlete with a mighty motor who knows how to reach the quarterback. McClellin possesses a solidly put together frame with a strong upper body which maximizes his length into contact. He plays all over the Boise State defense. He will play with his hand on the ground, can stand up and rush from a two-point stance and will blitz from the inside as well. He exhibits an explosive first step off the ball both with his hand on the ground and standing up. He can also coil up into his stance, stay low initially off the football and threaten the edge with speed. He does a nice job timing up the snap count and is routinely one of the first lineman moving off the ball. McClellin doesn't waste any motion from a two-point stance either when threatening the backfield. His weight is consistently in his front foot and that generates a burst attacking the backfield. He also displays a real know-how of getting to the quarterback and he possesses a solid pass rushing arsenal. He isn't the most flexible of athletes, but will drop his pad level around the corner, sink his hips and turn the corner. He's balanced/fluidity laterally when working a counter off his speed rush. He gets a bit upright, but extends his arms well, is strong in the lower half working through contact and accelerates well through contact. Also, McClellin extends his arms well at the point, can initially create a pop to gain space and possesses a solid initial burst once he gains a step. He's clever when asked to stunt, disguises his intentions well and works endlessly toward the quarterback.

He also plays the run well for his size, is patient when taking on blocks, extends his arms well and has a violent set of hands. His combination of body control and hand strength allows him to keep himself clean into contact, fend off the block and work his way in pursuit. He is a solid anchor player who can run as well and will make plays off his frame. He likes to run around blocks more so in space and at times will take himself out of plays. Also, McClellin is often asked to drop off into coverage and is a solid athlete in man. He keeps his feet under him, exhibits some natural balance/fluidity in the hips and can re-direct and close on the football.

Impression: McClellin is a productive pass rusher with a big motor, good skill set and can get after the QB in a number of ways. Looks like a potential starter at the next level.
You realize McClellin plays for Boise St. and not Wisconsin Pakrz? You're under no obligation to talk about how amazing he is or profess your unyielding boner for him. Just making sure you're aware!
Comparing McClellin to Mamula is utterly moronic. If someone were to spend a top-10 pick on Bruce Irvin maybe, but McClellin and Mamula are entirely different scanarios and making that claim is pure dum.

Of course if McClellin played in duh $EC GD would be licking his nutsack from here until he retires.

I think most would be happy with Perry, McClellin, Branch, Irvin, etc. just so there's a goodly resource put in to improving their anemic pass rush. Heck, my favorite would be Melvin Ingram, but there's probably no way they csan or would deal high enough to get him.
I'd question Perry's inconsistent motor and what I read from one analyst as a lack of pizzazz as a pass rusher. Perry has flashed potential to be a beast off the edge, but I also have read where he is not a consensus first rounder.
I think from the information out there McClellin's a good choice and a safe choice. Perry and Irvin "scare" me a bit due to questions surrounding them and I just prefer McClellin to Branch. We may see how TT feels or he could nab one of the good big men if there's one left he likes because there are so few of them available this year. It appears to be a pretty deep year for 3-4 rush 'backers.

While it's well documented I'm probably the biggest UW Badger fan ever, I do understand which college McClellin played for. Thanks Mel Jr.

He is just as likely to be the next Mamula as he is CM3. I watched the kid for 3 years, every game he played in. He reminds me of Brady Poppinga, not CM3.

The whole point was no one thought anything about this kid until a few draft "gurus" started writing about him. And now suddenly he's on a lot of people's tongues around here who have probably not even watched him beyond a YouTube clips of highlights.

Boise is one of the best college programs around...but not known for producing quality NFL talent. They put guys in the league but not many stay or prove they are worth the round they were taken in...Korey Hall, Colledge, Kyle Wilson come to mind. Ryan Clady is the lone exception in my mind.
I've been on his "bandwagon" for a while and yeah, I think he's now getting the attention he deserves. He's still a college kid and he may not be as good as a CMIII is now but remember CMIII was a package guy in college and wasn't even USC's top linebacker either as he played a hybrid DE postion most of the time. McClellin's not Melvin Ingram, but probably at least 19 picks later too. I think he's a good pick and a safe pick. Bruce Irvin is very intriguing, for example, but there's a lot of questions surrounding him. There's also a premium placed on pass rushers.
Why the comparison to CMIII? That guy is a rare dude and they just don't come around very often. Not a fair comparison at all and I certainly haven't done it.

What GB needs is a guy opposite CMIII that can play... a guy that can hold his own, get pressure, cover and cause the offense to pay attention to him so CMIII can go nuts. I think McClellin can be that guy. He was the best OLB I've ever seen play for the Badgers.

One thing I do know, it sure as **** ain't Zombo, Waldo, Jones or the other guys on the roster. The exception might be youngsters like So'oto or Lattimore I guess, but I'm not interested in sitting around waiting to see if an UDFA can develop. There's a dire need at that spot.

So there's no chance of any of these players developing into what we need?

Ok, noted.

Fortunately for us, I'm willing to bet TT, MM & crew are willing to continue & develop the players we have. They aren't just "sitting around (& praying)." If these players cannot develop into what we need, then they will be replaced.

Such as life in the NFL.

Sure, there is a "dire need" at that spot. Besides Pittsburgh, Almost every team has a need at that spot. The Cowboys don't have 2 Demarcus Wares. The other 31 teams have personnel departments that get paid too.

Just so we are clear, would GD be licking his own or McClellin's if he played in the SEC?

Um, yea. Note it, mark it down, etch it in stone or whatever you gotta do... I've seen enough out of those three stooges.
Waiting until the 6th round to take an OLB, and then hoping Zombo, Jones and Walden developed was last year's plan. It didn't work.

Gotta say I agree with Pakrz about those three. I haven't seen anything from any of them that makes me think they could become good pass rushers. If TT can't find a guy he likes in the first 3 rounds, I hope he drafts 3 OLB on the final day of the draft. At least then I'll feel like the Packers have some hope of finding another pass rusher.

You should send him one of your spare NFL draft swag bags.

You should have a bunch of them lying around, don't you?

Send Kiper the Powerball ticket. He had Perry going to Green Bay weeks ago.

Boris, thanks for letting me know how to log back in.

Now, about them prizes ........

I kind of feel like a winner, winner, chicken dinner.

Just ask next year when you want to know who the Packers will pick at # 32.
