Cam Newton is an intelligent YOUNG MAN who has done great things for his community. I've seen him mentor at-risk crack babies at their convenience, help old ladies across the street because he is a responsible YOUNG MAN, and told Michael Vick he could turn his life around.

Also, I don't know if you knew, but this YOUNG MAN is actually a doctorate student. He is researching the important origins of the term "variable." What has Rodgers done with his liberal arts degree? Shave?

The only way you have it the other way is if the Pack shuts him down, and they didn't do that.

Between the whining about the officials and the complaints about Mora and Pitts not liking the Packers, some of you sound like Viking fans.

For only playing in 2 NFL games, Cam Newton has done a hell of a job. Go look at the "Predictions" thread and then complain that too much praise was given to him. The Packers should have walked all over this team and didn't. And a big reason was because of the play of Cam Newton.

Football is so much better with no commentary. The place I watch the game was playing the Bucs audio. That was fun.

It really is amazing how much better football is without all the hand wringing and ass kissing.

I actually did that for the first quarter today...but I wasn't smart enough. The announcer would say there is a flag on the play and I would be looking for it on the Packer game and not seeing it and getting confused.

Considering they were both awful, some of you sound like whining hypocrites.

Hypocrite? Not following.

I just refuse to believe that the announcers and/or officials in the game have it out for the Packers. Go to a Panthers board (or Saints last week) and listening to their fans, you'd swear they got hosed, too.

I absolutely agree the Newton love was beyond nauseating, but there's no reason GB should have walked over Carolina. They weren't even a bad team last year, despite their record. They just need a QB and they found one that helps more than hurts. Newton won't last in the NFL though, that offense got dissected in 1 quarter and was basically shut down. His talent is not as unique as most think, he showed nothing that indicated he is on the brink of being a good QB.
Ditto We got our W and don't face him for a few years.

Definitely a love-fest for Cam. I too grew tired of hearing his name. Probably good payback from all the years of non-stop Brett Favre slobbering the announcers did.

Love him or hate him, Newton looks like he's going to be a pretty good one. I'm just happy GB snuck away with a W.
I think the praise of Cam is well deserved. He is the real deal, and with him under center, I expect the Panthers to be competitive for years to come. I thought the Capers' defensive scheme that helped lead us to the championship last year was going to make Cam look like the rookie that he is. It didn't. Sure, he made some rookie mistakes, but overall, he far exceeded my expectations. I hated Cam coming out of college, and I thought he was destined to be a bust. It is obviously still early, but it is looking like I was completely wrong. Hats off to the kid. The Panther franchise and fans have good reason to be excited. And truth be told, the commentators' praise is reasonable under the circumstances. The guy has thrown for 850 yards in his first two NFL games. Unreal.
