Monday presser

@jasonjwilde
McCarthy just talked to Pepper Burruss, and @GregJennings' surgery in Philadelphia has indeed been delayed.

@WesHod
Two injuries are still Jerel Worthy (concussion) and Mike Neal (ankle). More info on Wednesday

‏@jasonjwilde
MM: "Frankly, Alex Green has earned this opportunity to carry the football. I've liked what I've seen in his limited time behind Cedric."

@jasonjwilde
MM: "But James will probably be given more opportunities as we go throughout the week."

huge game for us. The Cardinals are MUCH better than the Jags.

We seem to play to the level of our competition.

Looked outstanding on the road vs undefeated Houston. Looked pretty bad vs Colts, Seahawks and Jaguars. Looked like world beaters against the Bears.

Id be happy with a 1 point win. We have to find a way to get to the bye with 6 wins then rest our banged up guys for the stretch run.

Getting to Kolb early and often is the biggest key. Id like to see STarks get some carries mixed in and get Green out in space with dump offs/ screens.

Flipping on the MNF game here in a minute. CArds on a short week vs a physical Niner team is a plus
This could be trouble for us. The Cards may have a rotten Oline, but anyone can look bad against SF. I can't see us getting to Kolb/Skelton/whoever unless we get some guys back up front. They also have some awfully good receivers, if only they can find someone to consistently hit them. Our Oline could be in trouble as well. Geez, we need to be better in the trenches.

Pretty unreal that Smith hit 18/19 passes to set a new record. Of course, if he took more downfield shots it wouldn't be so high but give him and his receivers some props. They made the plays they needed to.

4 straight losses after going 4-0. Not the kind of team I wanted to face.

The record of teams coming off Monday Night losses is putrid. That's a good sign.
The Cards are averaging 9 points per during their 4-game skid, but they also haven't given up more than 24 all year. (Though the 9ers 24 looked more like 40 last night.)

I'm expecting a game a lot like last week with the offense sputtering a bit, but the Cards managing to sputter more. If Jordy is back and healthy, it could look more like 9ers-Cards than Packers-Jags even without lighting up the scoreboard.
You know you're in trouble when you fill out your game day inactives...and still have guys who can't play due to injuries. It means all your rookies and backups will be active and probably see the field, if only on special teams.

Backups become starters and are then removed from special teams and the bottom of the roster fills in. But our MO is to churn the bottom of the roster, so some of the players are very short term with the team. AZ not so bad that a special teams TD couldn't fire them up and keep them in the game too long for them to fold easily.

Will start working Quarless and Zombo into the game-plan process this week to see where they are.

This was 1 of 2 reasons that the NFL has been adamant about only having 45, (now 46) active players on Sunday - instead of the full 53. Fans gripe about it, but its for competitive balance purposes

They wanted to keep a level playing field when one team has 10 injuries and the other had only 2
@LoriNickel
James Jones said MM "kind of threw us a little bone. We get a little extra time off if we win" next week for bye week #Packers

@LoriNickel
McCarthy said today that the #Packers have not taken the game before the bye as serious in the past, maybe overlooked some teams slightly

@LoriNickel
McCarthy: "We're putting everything we have in to this game."

Packers DE Mike Neal, who left last Sunday’s game with an ankle injury and missed Wednesday’s practice, was back on the practice field in pads on Thursday during the portion of the workout open to reporters.

Other than that, no other changes injury-wise appeared to be forthcoming.continue
