This looks like a sure loss, so of course, the Bucks open up 16-2 to start. Giannis with his first three of the year and 2 of 2 from the line.

10 minutes left in the 2nd quarter and Boston already has 18 3pt attempts. Whatβs the record in a game for attempts?
Bucks playing very well on offense, but their defense is still not good. Continually letting Pritchard get wide open look is a complete defensive screw up. Without Pritchard getting wide open shots, this is 20 point lead.
Bucks up 69-58 at the half. Mostly Giannis. 12-16 for 27-7-4 at the half.

29 attempts in the first half.
That's what they do.
Bucks lead almost gone. Celtics open up the 2nd half on a 6-0 run in 80 seconds. All the Bucks defensive lowlights on display. Two transition dunks and a backup down of Dame for an easy hoop.
Giannis hasn't touched the ball for the Bucks.
Celtics open up 12-0. Bucks offense looks completely inept once the Celtics started trying.
Bucks have 5 on 4 with Tatum hurt and Lillard air balls a 3.
Dame is 2 for 10. Holiday and Derrick White own him.
Conversely, the Celtics have no one who can guard Giannis other than ancient Al Horford.
And itβs tied at 78.
Bucks have been outscored 23-9 in the third.
Lillard with another air ball. Bucks down 3.

Celtics decided to try and the Bucks offense in this quarter consists of Dame throwing up air balls and Giannis taking 18 foot jumpers.
Bucks trail by 3 going to the 4th.
Dame has been terrible, but the Jrue and White are great wing defenders.
The good - AJ Green holds up very well.
The bad - Jackson Jr. is basically unplayable when he's not in transition. Jrue wasn't even guarding him to start the half which bogged down the offense and led to the transition layups to start the 3rd.
The ugly - watching the Bucks washed up veterans trying to guard anyone - Lopez, Portis, and Connaughton.
Ryan Rollins is getting dominated. Bucks now down 4.
The Bucks backup point guards (Rollins and Prince) can't even bring the ball up without turning it over. Jackson Jr. is the real backup PG, but he might be the worst shooter the Bucks have had in years.
So, they have no 3 and D wings. No back up PGs. And a bunch of old, slow veterans besides Giannis and Dame. AJ Green is a real player, though.
Dumb delay of game by Giannis with head butting the basketball, but Tatum misses the FT.
Dame is a complete liability against the Celtics. It's just not a good matchup for him with their big wings that can post him up and Jrue/White to shut him down on offense.
Dame might as well sit down. He's 1 for 8 from three. They'd be better off playing Jackson Jr. He can throw up air balls just as well, and he can actually play defense.
Down 5. Almost over.
Bucks offense looks like a grade school team. Lopez at the high post with no one to go to.
Embarrassing finish. Still down 5 with 36 seconds.
Dame isolates Jrue, drives into the paint, and throws the ball away.
Celtics miss on the other end and Taurean Prince sits around with his hand up his ass and allows an offensive rebound - no boxout and not even jumping for the ball.
Bucks call a timeout and draw up a play to get a corner from Taurean Prince? WTF?
Bucks lose. Giannis goes for 43-13-5 and 2 blocks on 18 for 29 from the floor. AJ Green played well.
The Celtics guards made Dame look like a G league player. 4 for 15 from the floor, 1 for 8 from three, and he was even worse on defense.
2-8.
The next 5 games are vs. Raptors, vs. Pistons, at Hornets, vs. Rockets, and vs. Bulls.
If they aren't at least 4-1 in that stretch, changes need to be made. If they don't win at least 3, Doc needs to go to.
If the Bucks win the next 50 in a row, they can match their start from 2019-20 when they were dominant before the bubble.

So, youβre saying thereβs still a chance?
And letβs not forget, Khris Middleton is almost back! Our savior!!
That the front office felt that this team was a definite playoff team just boggles the mind.
They may not win 50 games total in the next 2 seasons at the rate they are going. lol They aren't as bad as their record shows yet here they are at 2-8. They just look old and slow. That will be hard for a team in the Bucks position to fix without making some big changes.
If you look at their next 20 games, itβs probably the easiest stretch of the season. A couple of games v Indiana and Cleveland and Boston but a lot of games against the Nets and Hornets and Bulls and those type of teams.
If the Bucks have any desire to make the playoffs they have to get back to at least .500 by Christmas. I think right now thatβs a lot to ask from this group. Itβs just not a good team.
If there is a positive, Giannis is putting up monster numbers so if the decision is made to trade him they should get an absolute haul back in return.

They need to play AJ Green, Ryan Rollins, and Andre Jackson Jr. more minutes. AJ Green holds up very well on defense and they need to energy and youth. To do that, they need to trade some of the veterans. If Giannis is committed to staying, they need to up their minutes (and maybe some of the other young guys) now.
I think they need to trade Lopez, Portis, and Connaughton if they can. Lopez has an expiring 23 million dollar deal and, if they make the playoffs, is basically unplayable against a lot of teams. Maybe someone will want him as a rim protector, especially in the Western conference.
Portis can opt out after this year and probably will. He has value as an offensive guy off the bench and his 12.5 million dollar contract is a good value. Maybe someone gives you something decent back.
Connaughton has a player option for 9.5 million next year, so he'll be hard to move since he's sure to pick up that option.
Beauchamp has requested a trade, but there are dozens of guys in the G league just like him. Who would want him?
Now Lillard is on the shelf because of concussion protocol. When did that happen? Practice? Or non work related?

I would guess this is legit and happened since the last game. If you were just going to make something up to hold him out for an impending trade, you'd say knee tendinitis or sore back.
The defense will be a lot better tonight. Giannis might have to score 60 for them to have a chance to win. The worry is that they really don't have an effective backup PG. I guess Jackson Jr. will handle the ball more.
