Chargers confirm Melvin Ingram ACL tear
Posted by Darin Gantt on May 14, 2013, 8:42 PM EDT

The suspected news came in as bad as the Chargers feared, as the team has confirmed that last year’s first-round pick suffered a torn ACL in his left knee.
That’s a huge blow for a team that now has a need for some more pass-rush help, at a time of year when not much is available.

I know some Packers fans wanted/thought he'd be a good fit vs taking Perry. Man what crap luck. All injuries suck but when they happen this early on it just seems unfair. Reports are he will miss the entire 2013 season.

Agree that it's sucky at any time of the year, but IMO at least if a team suffers them at this time they have time to get a backup ready. To me it's worse when it's a week or two before the playoffs and there's no time to get a guy really game ready. I just hope we can get through the year with less than 10 on IR. Smiler

You can see the end of the Philip Rivers era on the horizon

There was a Philip Rivers era?

I feel bad for the kid. Always sucks to see somebody hurt early in a very promising career. At least medical technology will allow him to play again, and if all goes well, he could come back nearly as strong.

I often wonder what Eddie Lee Ivery could have done with today's sports science and medical advances. The guy kept trying to come back, and had flashes where you saw how great he could have been. He just couldn't stay healthy. Just sad. The Packers could have been even better offensively with him.

Never saw the beginning, he is a loser like Vajayjay, 2 peas from the same pod.
Polar opposites personality wise, but both are indeed losers. Rivers is the better player though, much better.
LOL, Rivers is 10x the player Vajayjay is.

If you remember, Philip and Jay jawed at each other early in their careers and
Rivers was the one who got the flack for that. Looking back, Rivers is a hothead but Jay is the pu$$y

Rivers has leadership qualities Jay will never possess.
He just needs a competent organization around him

beat me to it! Either way, that is a pretty big blow to their Offense. Isn't this the last year of his a contract as well?

Rivers sucks. Cutler is a wuss, but has 10x the arm.
Plenty of you have posted in the past that teams like the 49ers were having uncanny luck avoiding injuries to starters/key players. Those seem a little more timely now.
I hate to see injury for most players, but I'll never feel sorry for them or their teams considering what we've been through the last couple or so years.
