Packers offense has no flow.  They spend so much pre-snap time figuring out the defense and adjusting the play, it ends up herky-jerky.  The irony is, by doing that, you're letting the other team dictate the game.  It's not fooling them, they know what the Packers are doing.

Last night you saw the offenses calling plays and running them.  Packers are  waaay too analytical.  They're overthinking it.  Call the fricking play and run it. You don't have to audible every time.

The Packer/Redskin 48-47 MNF scoring record game stood for a long long time & that was when defenses were allowed to mug WR's & you know....actually tackle a QB while he's holding the ball.

Last night's game was the first time in NFL history a team scored 50 or more & lost.

In the Chiefs 2 losses this year, they are averaging 45 points scored. First time ever a team averages more points scored in losses than in wins .

That's how ridiculous the game is now.

I was at House of Prime Rib last night. Date night with Wifey - she was streaming the game. We started watching with 10 minutes left in the 4th Quarter. I was hoping for OT until Pat MaFavre showed up.

That was my extent of watching the well advertised "Game of the Year"

I don't get to watch much football anymore.  Too many other things going on.  But I made a point of watching last night because I wanted to see what the future of the game was going to look like.

It was entertaining in some regards but kind of fluffy in others.   Wasn't that what people used to derisively refer to as "arena football"?  You had flashes of D from Donald but the rest was a track meet.  Who had the fastest guy and could you get him the ball?  Mahomes and Goff both look really really good but I want to see them grind through a drive where you need both power and speed where the D wins almost half the downs.  Not just 1 or 2.

Fantasy fans lost their shit last night.  The game is alive and well as far as popularity is concerned.

not my game of the year.  didn't watch but it sure sounds like the producer's game of the year.

the NFLFU:  defense?  we don't need no steenkin' defense!  know nothings and fantasy foozballers love offense.

the game is so on a death march....   glad I got to enjoy it while it was still football.

I didn't see the whole game, but I believe there were at least 3 TDs scored by the defense, so there was at least some defense played in the game.  This game was a perfect storm of 2 excellent offenses, 2 teams with shaky secondaries, and 2 coaches who pretty much decided to go bombs away, mostly ignoring the running game towards the end of the game.

Football may be changing and not for the better, but overall, I looked at this game as a positive, not a negative.  It was just very aggressive coaching between 2 heavyweight offenses and teams that already had some issues on defense that can be exploited.

I saw the pick 6's as more a result of the pass happy offense than of great D.  The more you air it out the more likely you'll see INT's.  As I said, Donald was the only real factor.

I saw an interesting stat on Mahomes this morning.  His %s go way down when he has to hold the ball.  He's great hitting first and second read but if a play breaks down and he has to find someone open off-schedule he really struggles.  Not surprising for a young QB.

I'm not sure why everybody is on Chicago.  The Rams/Saints are the class in the NFC and everyone else is a step below.

I think the AFC is a bit more open, can't count out the Pats and Steelers, and the Chiefs are exciting and can beat anyone, but HOU/IND and even the LAC are all pretty good teams.

I don't think any team is in the Saints/Rams league though.

The Saints pass the eye test the best.  One thing that could help the Rams would be if CB Aqib Talib could get healthy again.  That said, I think he was in decline before his injury.  If the Rams can get home field advantage from the Saints they might have a chance to beat them.  I don't think they could beat them in the Superdome.

NEP likeky will represent the AFC in SB.

I like a more balanced NOS, or even CHI, over LAR.

Need balance. Video game football is entertaining, but won't win a title.

You are right.  There have been some high powered offenses to win titles but more often than not you have to play defense somewhere along the line to win a title.  But, I think that may be changing because college football isn't playing defense so IMHO it may get harder and harder to build a defense.

I also think the NFL needs these kinds of games to attract more fans.

I'm never going to trust Andy Reid in the playoffs. Andy doesn't trust Andy in the playoffs. Not at all sold on NE. Brady's arm looks fully shot. Like Manning shot only NE doesn't have the defense Denver did to carry Mannings decline.

Chargers / Saints looks pretty good right now. A little concerned about how McVay coached the last 3 minutes of the game last night. Offensive genius that almost play called himself into a loss. Those things are magnified in January.

Patriots, Steelers, and Saints all have battle tested playoff coaches and QBs with rings. Regular season stats are great, but I would never underestimate the importance of understanding how to win in the playoffs. The 2016 Packers are a great example of a team that beat two regular season darlings (DAL, NYG) when it actually matters. Brady knows how to win in the playoffs, Goff and Mahomes have zero knowledge of this.

That's probably why you have to go with Payton.

Possibly. I'd like to see what McVay takes away from those play calls. Will it be "I've learned and I know what I'd do differently next time" or will it be "we do what we do"? If he does the former, he could beat NO. I'd also give the Rams a chance in NO just because on an even faster track their speed could be a factor.
