he has almost a perfect swing.......has hit over 1000 pitches without popping up in the infield. All the guys on the show say he deserves the MVP. I love this kid.

He does deserve the MVP.
MVP!!!
His name doesn’t even come up according to Dan Patrick.......not even a mention.
Yelich is having an unbelievable season, no doubt. You could make an equally strong arguement foe Javier Baez. They have to be 1-2 in voting with Arrenado third.
"I think the argument for Yelich is stronger"
-any not cub homer-
Make the stronger arguement.
I also don’t think including Baez in MVP talk is being a homer, as you say. Yelich has been great. But so has Baez.

Yelich has
- Higher overall WAR
- Higher Offensive WAR
- Higher BA
- Higher OBP
- Higher SLG
- Higher OPS
- Higher Adjusted OPS
- Higher Run Created
- Higher RC/G
- Higher Adjusted Batting Runs
- Higher Adjusted Batting Wins
- Higher Offensive Win %
- Higher RE24
- Higher WPA
- Higher WPA/LI
Whereas Baez has
- Higher HR
- Higher 2B
- Higher 3B
- Higher RBI
Baez has had a great year. But Yelich has been better. So much so that it’s pretty clear cut to anyone that doesn't have a vested interest in the cubs.

And this is quite stupid.

You definitely make the stronger arguement, at least offensively. And I would say that is usually the most prevalent indicator outside of pitchers. While I would have Baez in the conversation, Yelich is definitely deserving.
Unfortunately for him, I don’t know that all of the MVP voters are up to date on advanced stats. If the Cubs hold on and win the division, some voters may be swayed toward him. Similarly with defense and base running. Baez has been unbelievable in both of those areas. Not a lot of stats to compare the two (if truly even possible). Voters aren’t always the brightest, like mentioned in the above post ref Dan Patrick.
in the end, regardless of who wins the division, I think Yelich is absolutely deserving. That is/was a hell of a trade in acquiring him.

Baez has one more HR and 6 more RBI. He's certainly having a great season, just not better than Yelick.
(They both have the same number of steals, but Yelick has been thrown out less)
He was walked 5 times last night. That’s Barry Bonds treatment.
Oh and he scored both runs.
MVP no doubt.
