Chuck Cecil, a longtime assistant under Rams coach Jeff Fisher with the Tennessee Titans and a former Pro Bowl safety as a player, will become the team's secondary coach, according to JIm Thomas of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch who cites league sources. Given Cecil's playing and coaching style, suffice to say he will not be teaching finesse football.

During seven seasons as an NFL player for Green Bay, Arizona and the Houston Oilers, Cecil had a reputation as one of the game's biggest hitters β€” and then some.

In fact, a 1993 story in Sports Illustrated asked: Is Chuck Cecil too vicious for the NFL?

This makes me think back to 1988. That was the year the Packers blew thru kickers practically every week. Cecil lived in the apartment next to mine and shared the apartment with one of the kickers - I don't remember if it was Zendejas or his replacement. But when Cecil's roommate would get cut the new kicker would move in and new tape would cover up the old name on their mailbox - it was rather humorous.
