"I think it's back for sure, definitely," Matthews said, "with the addition of Nick Perry on the opposite side of me. I mean, he's a big kid who is only going to push the pocket back. We've got some new characters, some new faces on the defensive line. Jerel Worthy, our second-round pick, has been playing real well. Mike Daniels out of Iowa has been playing well.

"We've added some free agents here who are definitely going to give this defense a spark. And that was definitely an area we need to address, and it's been a concern of ours, and it looks like we've got it back. I'd prefer he just shut his yap and let the play on the field speak for itself, but to each his own.

I'll believe it is back when I see it in a regular season game. Talk is cheap, actions speak volumes.

I think it will be better, but having Walden, Neal, and Hargrove all suspended early in the year won't help.

Worthy, Daniels, and Perry could help, but the NFL is tough on rookies. It may take some time before they really start to hit their stride.

I'm not crazy about Matthews starting to yap more either. Even if the pass rush is better, there are still some serious questions in the back nine with the injuries and fresh faces.

We really aren't going to know anything until the regular season starts. Capers always keeps things pretty vanilla in the preseason.

It's not much of a stretch to say that last year's 32nd ranked defense will be better this year. Top five would be great, top 15 should be enough.

Clay really enjoys the spotlight & attention and he will lob some comments from time to time. No reason to get the undies in a bunch but some Packer fans are constantly looking under every rock for something to worry about...

gotta say the last guy I worry about talking on this team, or even worry about at all, is Clay. he can back it up and he's a damn good football player who goes about his job professionally.
