I'll be sad to see Cliffy go. He's been a warrior for the Packers, and one of my favorite players. I am, however, happy to see that Donald is going to have at least one more season with the Pack. He came on towards the end of the year, and looked more like the #80 I'm used to. Great the have him there teaching the youngsters.

Trust Ted.
Clifton is basically done at this point. He wasn't that much better than Newhouse last year, and Newhouse wasn't very good in some games. He managed to come back from that horrific injury he got from the Sapp blindside, but I'd bet that it knocked a few years off of his career. He was a great player, and he deserves to be remembered as one of the all-time greats in the history of this franchise. It's nice that Driver is going to be back, I just hope that the team carries fewer TEs next season since he's coming back.
Bulaga clearly is the Pack's best tackle. He should be penciled in at LT right now and have his preparation to flip sides begin at the very moment Clifton is released. Newhouse and Sherrod (assuming the leg heals OK) should then battle it out for the RT position in training camp. Depending on what happens with the situation at C, this can still be a very good offensive line.

I'm not sure "ethical" has the same meaning today. The new CBA has language about assigning someone the franchise tag with the expectation they will be on your roster for the coming season. Numerous factions (namely the players) reportedly wanted the practice expressly forbidden but it was softened in the final version.

Does TT want to thumb his nose at the understanding of the rest of the league and be "that guy"? :shrugs: Someone will sooner or later, likely sooner.

Bill Belichick wouldn't hesitate one second to do this. A lot of teams are going to want Flynn, and the Pack can't worry about how some people may feel about them doing what's best for the team. The NFL can't prove anything unless Ted or someone else at the upper levels of 1265 Lombardi Ave starts shooting their mouths off.

I think Crabtree makes the team again regardless of Quarless' health. He's not only a TE, he's also a core ST player.

We're going to want to bring in another young OL or two, Newhouse played well enough to at least get by with (and should continue to improve).

I don't recall the prognosis on Sherrod's recovery timetable, but he'll be in the mix as well eventually.

Finally, if TT is able to swing a trade for Flynn I'll be very impressed. The risk is enormous given the cost of a QB franchise tag if you can't find a trade partner. It happened with Corey Williams, but we didn't have to tag Williams @ $14 Mil either.

"Kazoo" may be correct.

Sherrod's agent has doubts he'll play in 2012.

If the Packers can get Konz in round 1, not sure how they can pass him up...but that said, not sure he will be there. I see them trading down and taking BPA out of S, OLB, DE and possibly OL.
The risk would involve tagging Flynn with the intention of making a trade, and not being able to pull it off.

I don't expect that to happen, nor any reason to think that TT would entertain that sort of risk without having at least the framework of a deal in place.

The point is/was, that Flynn is not as easy of a call as it was with Williams due to the enormous cost of the franchise tag.

I'll be very impressed if a trade happens, but I believe in the end he's going to be allowed to walk.
