A tourney set up so that the wealthiest Euro clubs can get even wealthier? Everton and Tottenham have an uphill climb every year. Bayern makes the New York Yankees look poor. Before Champions league, some of these these leagues were actually somewhat competitive. Sevilla and Atleto Madrid as La Liga Champs, Blackburn, Everton, Nottingham Forest!!! and Leeds United as English Champs, Hamburg with multiple championships in the Bundesliga, it was actually quite a bit of fun.

Have a laugh at Barca, Real, Man City, Man United, Galatrssary, Juventus, Paris St Germain...if they don't make the Champions League. The system is stacked in their favor. As a Spurs fan, winning the Europa League would be awesome. One of my favorite memories was the 1984 Cup Winners Cup trophy. Ya, the old Cup Winners Cup. I was crushed when they discontinued it.

You may lack the historical perspective to understand that, but laughing at Dempsey and Howard for merely qualifying for the Europa league is like laughing at the Brewers for merely qualifying for the playoffs. It is a big deal that they qualified at all. Yeah, they would like to qualify for the Champions League(Howard has), but the odds are stacked against them. Man City, United, Liverpool, Chelsea have double the payroll, and Arsenal have a much larger payroll as well.

Carry on. Smiler
