Too bad they have to make a rule for something as silly as this. Jim Harhar needs to learn three things: 1) he's not a player any more, 2) on Sunday afternoon it's not about the coaches, and 3) we don't want to see his or any other whiny, indignant, petulant coach's face on the field. Keep yer butt and histrionics on the sidelines, Jimbo!

Will this be known as the Whiny Jim rule?

If he manages to hold onto his job for a few more years, we're probably going to have a whole category of rules known as "The Harbaugh Rules." This will probably come to be known as "The First Harbaugh Rule," or perhaps historians will create a classification system similar to that used by astronomers. Then it will be called "Harbaugh 2013A", or something like that.

Uh no, I'd still hate Jim Harbaugh even if the Packers beat the 49ers by 30 points in both games. Same goes for Pete Carroll. They're both extremely unlikable people with crybaby attitudes and absolutely no sense of sportsmanship.
Very simple. No warning should be required because it is an established rule and the coaches and players should be aware of it just like every other rule.
1st offense = 15 yd unsportsmanlike conduct penalty.
2nd offense (by anyone on the team) that player or coach is ejected from the game.
I remember when the younger tool was on Baltimore's sidelines when the older tool was coaching in the playoffs a few years back...they were both out on the field working the ref, and tool the younger wasn't even a Ravens coach.
Just to show all coaches do "The Harbaugh." He just gets on the tube. Reminds of back in the 80s/90s when that special teams coach for the Pokes was shown ranting and raving all the time after every special teams play.

, is that pic of MM truly a "Harbaugh" or was he on the field legally, like during a timeout?

I think we need to determine guidelines on what constitutes doing "The Harbaugh." Is it rant on the field anytime or only when there aren't stoppages in play?
Typical

Take a guy that acts like a lunatic most of the time and generalize that they aren't being treated fairly because others may do it once in a blue moon

What I want to know is how the 1991 draft can find a way into this discussion

No, we don't. It has already been determined. Jump ahead to Article 8

quote:

Article 8 Non-player personnel of a club (e.g., management personnel, coaches, trainers, equipment men) are prohibited from making unnecessary physical contact with or directing abusive, threatening, or insulting language or gestures at opponents, game officials, or representatives of the League.

Penalty: Loss of 15 yards. (Unsportsmanlike conduct.) Enforcement is from:
a) succeeding spot if the ball is dead;
b) previous spot if the ball was in play; or
c) whatever spot the spot Referee, after consulting with the crew, deems equitable. (Palpably Unfair Act.)
Note: Violations which occur before or during the game may result in disqualification in addition to the yardage penalty. Any violation at the game site on the day of the game, including postgame, may result in discipline by the Commissioner.
