Pulling a "Look at me. " accomplishes nothing except alienating yourself.

Well, you kinda have to do some sort of a 'look at me' if you want to make a point. However, I don't agree with this particular tactic.

It's amazing how his career spiraled downward in such a dramatic fashion.  He really seemed to be the perfect mix of size and athleticism when he was destroying the Pack a few years ago.

To quote the movie Hook, "bad form Peter, bad form". I get what he's trying to do but this isn't the way you do it. SF fan's are among the most fickle, a-hole fair weather fans who will find any reason to hate you. Way to give them a big reason to. At this point in his career, they might as well insert a RB to play QB. His throws were lousy last night and the only positive thing he can do is run with the ball.

You can get a RB to do that for about 500K a year.

I get standing up for what you believe in, but not showing respect for the country and flag is a really bad idea.  Especially when it allows you to get paid millions for doing little to nothing.

There are other more impactful ways to influence social change and this ain't one of them.

North Korea Kappy!!

What are the acceptable forms of commenting on social change that Kaepernick is allowed to engage in?

Ali was in a different time & era than now. What Ali did needed to be done back then & I GUARANTEE YOU, Kap would NEVER go to jail for his so called "convictions" like Ali did.

Apples & Oranges.

Kaepernick is a wanna-be douchebag that's grasping at everything he can to be relevant.

IMO Ali, was right about his refusal to the draft. I used to process out people who had a "deeply held belief" that prevented service in the armed forces. Today Ali would have been granted that exception.

CK is just trying to be "relevant" in a world that has passed him by. If he is looking for "street cred" from the AA community he is probably pissing off a lot of AA's in the service to their country .

Besides he is not that good of a QB or even a role model.

He can express his opinions anywhere, anytime, any way he wants...except for when he is in/on an NFL field.
If he chooses to do that, then he needs permission from his coach, teammates, owners, and the league. To do otherwise is just a chicken**** action.

 Now what?

Fact is Kaep not standing for the National Anthem is not the story here. Can have an opionion that he should stand like he has an opinion why he shouldn't. I think he should. But I get his reasonings for not. It's ok to disagree. He's not wrong for why he chose to take this action. Some innocent individuals doing nothing wrong were killed by police. There is no disputing that. Some innocent police officers were ambushed and killed for doing their job as well.

Dwayne Wade (along with Carmello Anthony, LeBron James, and Chris Paul) all spoke out about gun violence and police shootings of black individuals at the ESPY's. They all made educated and thoughtful comments.

Yesterday Dwayne Wades 32 year old cousin was shot in the head at 3:30 in the afternoon in Chicago while pushing her baby in a stroller and walking her three older to register for elementary school. She's dead. Caught in the crossfire of more random gun violence. How incredibly ****ed up is that? And who knows how many other places that same scene played out yesterday in other cities.

This country, everyone in this country, needs to get real and have a serious come to Jesus discussion about gun violence. About equitable opportunity for every child in this country to get a real chance to grow up safe and be given a real chance to earn a sound education.

Standing for the anthem? Much, much bigger issues to tackle. Colin better choose to carry his fight though. That's all I ask of him.

Maybe he should be outraged at all the shootings / killings in, say, Chicago, of average people. Oh, right, those don't matter so much.

Exactly!  Let's stop all violence AMIRITE GUYS? I know you're really outraged about Chicago!

However, like me, I'm sure you are even more outraged about the killings in Alturas CA, which has a murder rate of 152.96/100K vs Chicago's 15.09/100K!  I mean given your humanist position, I'm sure this is not news to you!

So, yeah, why doesn't Kapernick get outraged all violence, whether in Chicago or Alturas, CA!  Why does he only seem to be focused on historical and systematic racism and violence that has been going on for hundreds of years to a very specific group of people, when there are killings and shooting in lots of places man!

smdh

It's good seeing someone like yourself that cares only about murder rates and violence.  I'm sure, like me, you must be 10x more outraged about Alturas CA's violence!  Almost 10x higher murders per capita than Chicago!  DISGUSTING!  Why aren't you focused on that Colin?  That's your state man!

So, kudos to you for being so very concerned about violence of all sorts, excalibur!

I mean, it would take someone mighty cynical to not believe with 100% certainty that you are not truly outraged about all violence in America.  Or to think you're just trotting out meaningless talking points not related to what Kaepernick is doing because that's what Hannity or Bill O or Rushbo or whatever talking head tells you to say because you lack the mental capacity to think for yourself.  Or to think your "BUT BUT BUT CHICAGO" is little more than a not at all subtle dogwhistle that you use because you don't have the brass to say what you really mean about "those" people on a family website.

But, I know that isn't you!  You are truly outraged about violence.  But as a small favor, I'd ask for you to not forget Alturas CA where there are 10X murders per capita than even Chicago when you continue your comments on the horrors of violence in America!
